Did you watch the Golden Globes? The Golden Globe Awards are a precursor to the Oscars. Tonight’s award show was watched by approximately 20 million people. Maybe, you saw the red carpet as well.

Jimmy Fallon made a grand entrance. But the night began with Aaron Taylor-Johnson winning Best Supporting Actor for Nocturnal Nights. Later, Billy Bob Thornton gave an emotional speech.

Then, Tracee Ellis Ross graced the stage winning for Blackish. Atlanta starring Donald Glover earned the award for Best TV series. And Hacksaw Ridge received top recognition. Additionally, Sarah Paulson earned her award for the People V. O.J. Simpson.

You couldn’t have asked for better presenters than Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. Gina Rodriguez represented for the Latina women. Do you watch Jane the Virgin? Viola Davis received hard earned credit for her performance in Fences.

How could you miss the amazingly stunning Sofia Vergara on stage in her see through dress? Give credit to Carrie Underwood and Sting too. Moreover, Ryan Gosling’s and Emma Stone’s La la Land was given major accolades. Did Ryan Gosling give a nice acceptance speech or what?

Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer shared the stage but Hawn hogged the microphone. Tom Hiddleston scored big for the Night Manager. Claire Foy won on a large scale for the Crown. It was great seeing Casey Affleck win Best Actor for Manchester by the Sea.

Finally, Brad Pitt introduced Moonlight, which was nominated for 6 Golden Globes. Moonlight deservingly won for the best drama category. However, the spotlight shined brightest on Meryl Streep. It was definitely Meryl’s moment.

Everybody did a fantastic job. It was a wonderful show. There was a ton of glitz and glamor beginning on the red carpet. They arrived in spectacular fashion inside stretch limousines. The biggest stars showed up, although everybody in showbiz and the entertainment world did not take home an award.

I think Jimmy Fallon was awesome. A lot of excitement filled the air. My main critique is where was the music? They could have used more of the music scores. What do you think? Who had the best smile? Who wore the best dress?

Keeping Up with the Joneses Movie Review

Where’s Guru Jay been you say? I was on vacation because everybody is entitled to a break. Thank you for giving me one.

Well do I have a blog for you today or what. This is my Keeping Up with the Joneses movie review. For starters,I feel the writing is phenomenal.

It’s like a full course meal in every way. Zach Galifianakis performs above expectation. And that guy…ahem from Mad Men Jon Hamm delivers the good and services on a silver platter.

You must love the cool soundtrack. I sure do. Here’s a movie about change. We all go through changes. I had to change a tire the other day.

Plus, it is a movie filled with laughter from start to finish. The comedy is absurd at times. You’ll love rich scenes and suspenseful moments. I thoroughly enjoy the plot, especially the tongue teaser. There are Snakes BUT not on a plane.

To put things in perspective, I saw it today. Yes the day of the World Series. If you’ve been following my Twitter @IamGuruJay you know I love baseball by now.

Anyway, the movie stars shine bright lights. The acting is great. Overall, I liked my day at the theaters. There were many thespians there in my audience.

And it’s the audience’s response that makes a movie or a blog or a website fantastic. While I’m on the word fantastic, the director did a fantastic job. And the producers made the most out of their budget.

If you want to see a crowd-pleaser, then Keeping Up with the Joneses is your movie. After careful consideration, I give the film editing an A-. It is truly excellent entertainment. There are bad actors and some I assume good.

This is well executed and lively. Here’s something I would watch with my family for a second time. Give it three stars out of five.

Rotten Tomatoes got it wrong. Keeping Up with the Joneses should make $100 million in a fair world. Will it make it that far? I don’t have an answer for you. I’m only a Guru,who knows one thing and one thing only and that is…question everything.

Chloe Grace Moretz Vs. Hailee Steinfeld

Right now, Chloe Grace Moretz and Hailee Steinfeld have the whole world ahead of them. These two actresses have made a name for themselves early on in their careers. Their futures can’t be any brighter. You watch, their names will only get bigger and bigger.


The question is who’s better? Hailee has a more impressive filmography. However, Chloe has a finer resume. In other words, Chloe has less typos. 

You see Hailee’s movies score higher box office numbers. That’s because her movies are more mainstream. Have you checked out True Grit, Begin Again, and Pitch Perfect 2? But, Chloe is a winner because of The Equalizer. 

In many ways, Chloe Grace and Hailee are the future of showbiz. That’s why you see their faces on Glamour and Seventeen, respectively. The red carpet will roll at their feet forever. These celebrities will stay on top as long as they take care of their minds and bodies.

Hailee is a version of Amanda Seyfried. Chloe reminds me a lot of Hilary Duff and Jennifer Lawrence. They will turn into juggernauts provided they put the work in at the gym.


Were you shocked when Khloe Kardashian slighted the younger blonde on Twitter? Some say she was being bullied by the reality TV star. Well, Steinfeld recently revealed that she was bullied in real life. Did you know the brunette is a part of Taylor Swift’s squad? 

In the coming years, you’ll learn a great deal about these stars because they’re getting hotter by the day. Plus, neither one is a day over 20 right now. Think about all they have accomplished already. 

For the record, Chloe Grace Moretz stands at 5’4” and Hailee Steinfeld is 5’8.” Let the sun shine because Chloe was born in the age of Aquarius. Hailee, on the other hand, is a Sagittarius.

In a nutshell, Chloe can’t do any wrong. And Hailee can only do right by me. How do you feel?

Can’t Get Enough of Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff has been on my mind for a very long time. I grew up watching the Disney actress perform as Lizzie McGuire. In the meantime, I’ve seen many of her Hollywood movies. One of my most popular posts features the celebrity. Check out Hottest Hollywood Starlet’s Under 30 when you get a chance.

Right now Hilary is making headlines because of the Democratic National Convention and Hillary Clinton. You see the blonde actress is single right now and me too. Maybe, I should send her a tweet or something. I hear she’s working on a dating reality TV show. You know how I feel about reality shows, but I could make an exception for Duff.

What would it be like dating a famous person, not just any famous person? This girl knocks your socks off and rocks your world. Would we vacuum the red carpet together? Would my people call her people? You know the showbiz runaround and the entertainment two step.

Hollywood is a dreamworld. The more I latch onto its ideas, the more addicting it gets. It’s kind of like drinking Coca-Cola from a bottle.

I love Hilary Duff because she’s no nonsense. Yes, Yoga plays a part in her mental makeup. And that’s the thing I’m talking about. 

Brains are more important than beauty. Hilary has stayed out of trouble and made the most of her career. It takes smarts to make it to this point.

Beauty helps though. Boy, that smile is amazing. And those eyes make you melt. 
Plus, Duff is never a buzz kill. She always has something positive to say. When you’re happy, you make other people happy. “I’m so excited, I just can’t hide it.” 
Like the Pointer Sisters, I’m about to lose control and I think I like it. Who else can’t get enough of Hilary Duff?

The Rise of Swedish Movie Star Alicia Vikander

    Lara Croft: Tomb Raider starring Alicia Vikander has finished production, and the movie will be released in 2018. The lead actress recently expressed gratitude to Angelina Jolie, who originally played the character. Remember Jolie’s image and likeness were licensed on Sony Playstation video games. Maybe producers will market Alicia Vikander in a similar way because sex sells and Vikander is sexy as hell.


    The Swedish actress aka the Danish Girl must be asked on a regular basis to perform Swedish massages. Did you know Alicia Vikander won a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for the Danish Girl? She clearly defines exotic eye candy. Anyhow, Alicia should expect scrutiny for Tomb Raider since Angelina Jolie put on damn near-perfect performances in the originals.



Ex Machina  



    I highly recommend watching Ex Machina starring Vikander. She plays a robot that looks human and possesses superior smarts and anatomy. Unfortunately, she outwits others and even her creator. This plot represents the dangerousness of artificial intelligence. Moreover, it sends a message about survival.



    Everyone can agree that the actress did a fine job. She convinces you of her circumstances in more than one way. On the one hand, you must sympathize with her character because she’s trapped by walls. On the other hand, you must realize she’s man-made and nonhuman.



    Also, Alicia Vikander played major roles in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Seventh Son, and Testament of Youth.



    In the coming weeks, Jason Bourne will debut in theaters everywhere. It’s important to critique Alicia Vikander’s acting in this film. Because she plays a CIA agent, we will be able to gauge her quality as an up-and-coming action movie star from this.

    In conclusion, it doesn’t take an astronomer to chart the rise of Swedish movie star Alicia Vikander. An astrologer can see she’s destined for superstardom.

Ghostbusters Movie Review

The long-awaited all female Ghostbusters came to theaters yesterday. Everybody was expecting this to be the number 1 summer movie. Did Ghostbusters meet this expectation? Or were we disappointed?


Fans of the original may be disappointed that it didn’t pick off where the last one left off. However, you must appreciate it as a standalone film. How can you deny the incredible acting and comedic timing? Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones put the cat in the bag and on a show (Garfield, maybe?).
 
The movie provided fun entertainment. There are many unforgettable scenes. I won’t spoil it for you.
It was awkward at times because it seemed like a Saturday Night Live reunion. I’ll give the casting department a break because the movie was funny. But I wanted more variety, fresher faces, and unpredictability. Still, everyone contributed to the awkwardness including Chris Hemsworth.


Melissa McCarthy was laid back and Leslie Jones was in your face. What you get is a nice chemistry experiment. Additionally, I thought Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig played their characters really well. McKinnon was believable as a university professor obsessed with gaining tenure. And Wiig was unbelievable as whatever she was supposed to be.

I thought the cinematography was top notch. In this kind of movie, the light is critical. Moreover, you couldn’t ask for better special effects. The concert hall scene and the ending were breathtaking. Now, you could ask for a better soundtrack. Music is important in every movie.


I give the movie a B. You see delivering good comedy is a hard task. I feel the filmmakers could have done more with their resources.


Ghostbusters met my expectations. I expected big butts in seats and strong box office numbers. But I never expected it to be the number 1 summer movie. Overall, I was satisfied with the outcome.

Steven Spielberg Vs. J.J. Abrams

Steven Spielberg and JJ Abrams are arguably the best directors. But who’s the best? Spielberg seems to be slowing down in the realm of directing but not executive producing. On the other hand, it’s full speed ahead for JJ Abrams.


Who recalls that 2 billion dollar movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens?


Without question these two filmmakers are in A League of Their Own. They produce cream of the crop material consistently.


Imagination is the key to unlocking genius. How do you capture the unimaginable? You must organize chaos.


Steven Spielberg is worth a zillion dollars for a reason. You can count on him to deliver exceptional quality of results. Don’t bet against him because the odds are always in his favor.  


Who hasn’t seen at least one Speilberg movie? Have you seen The BFG yet? I don’t blame you if you don’t go see it because it’s a blatant rip-off of James and the Giant Peach. I’m all in for imagination but re-creation is not the same thing. Now this doesn’t take away from Spielberg’s brilliance.

Furthermore, am I the only one who noticed the Star Trek director also directed Star Wars? On a side note, which movie franchise do you like better? Back to the topic-> How does this happen? J.J. Abrams clearly made history by directing both.


JJ Abrams may in turn direct Avatar at the rate he’s going. All I know is James Cameron has steep competition from the Bad Robot executive producer.


It’s clear Hollywood follows a formula. A script is an arranged statement of instructions. To answer my question, Steven Spielberg is the better instructor. However, J.J. Abrams is the best curriculum designer.

Let me put it this way… Spielberg could never direct Star Wars and Abrams could never direct Jurassic Park. Still, both are at the top of their game.
