Who’s Funnier Than Zach Galifianakis and Steve Carell?

BY: GURU JAY

Check out Between Two Ferns. You see as a pair Zach Galifianakis and Steve Carell could take over the comedy world. 10 years from now you’ll play that clip and still laugh from your gut. That’s the best kind of laughter.
Zach Galifianakis and Steve Carell answer the question: what’s so funny? Zach has mastered the art of self-deprecation. And Steve Carell’s persona epitomizes a narcissist. That’s why together they are 1 dangerous force.
Can you picture a comedy tour with these comedians? Zach Galifianakis drums up funny beats for a living. Who’s funnier than him?
Maybe, Steve Carell can make you laugh a little more. Both brands command attention. You see comedy and marketing go hand and hand.

I feel that Carell is the best actor between the two ferns. However, Galifianakis is a funnier comedian. You’ll sure have a ball watching them go to town. For what it’s worth, Steve Carell made the Office. And Zach Galifianakis made the Hangover.

Zach’s standup experience prepares him perfectly for movies. Although he isn’t the best, he is a good actor. Galifianakis delivers a great performance in Birdman. Also, in Are You Here, he and Owen Wilson demonstrate their entertainment value.
Hollywood stars are jealous of Zach and Steve because their names draw enormous crowds. For the record, Evan Almighty should be recognized as a classic, despite Jim Carrey not reprising his role. Plus Hangover Part III was unfairly criticized. Remember that the original tends to be better than sequels.

I think Ricky Gervais is proud of Steve Carell in Office. And I believe Will Ferrellappreciates Zach’s offerings to Funny or Die. I don’t like Dan In Real Life but Bored to Death is excellent work. Also, 40 Year-Old Virgin is one of the funniest movies ever. In a nutshell, who’s funnier than Zach Galifianakis and Steve Carell?

Who Is Watching Dr. Ken?

BY: GURU JAY

Laughter is the best medicine. And Dr. Ken is the best doctor. Well, Ken Jeong is at minimum the funniest physician on prime time.
Have you made your appointment with the doctor yet? Will you bend over so he can examine your funny bone? Ken Jeong stars as Dr. Ken in a new hilarious sitcom named after him.
Who is watching Dr. Ken? I’ve watched the TV show for a few weeks now. It keeps getting better each episode.
You know sitcoms come and go, but I believe Dr. Ken is here to stay. Credit the casting department for finding tremendously talented people. Do you like Tisha Campbell-Martin?
Overall, this show contains the right mixture of ingredients. Check it out right after a long day of work. Forget about the stresses that pain you.

There are too many criminal thrillers and not enough comedies. Dr. Ken delivers potent jokes in dosages. He noticeably deviates from the norm.
Can Hollywood’s executive producers take more breaks from violence? How about creating more comedy shows for a change?
You won’t find another show with all of Dr. Ken’s components. It plays to the audience’s curiosities. Taboo topics aren’t off limits. In fact, controversy is welcome.

At Guru Jay, I filter the best entertainment news. Believe me, Dr. Ken is worth watching. Don’t wait until season 5 when the characters are completely developed to jump on the bandwagon.
Right now is a prime opportunity to become a fan. It is important to support shows in the beginning. I’ve seen several great programs get cancelled. Even TV shows with unbelievable numbers get axed.

If you like Dr. Ken, send a tweet, post a comment, etc. If you like me, spread the message via word of mouth and come back for more. I’m all about holistic medicine.

Top 10 Highest Earning R-Rated Movies

BY: GURU JAY

Enter the Dragon was the first R-Rated movie I remember seeing. Now I watch martial arts movies religiously like a disciplined Confucian. You see restricted films are the best because there are no limits on freedom of expression.
Understandably, there’s no room for error in making R-Rated movies because your audience is already confined to a strict age range. Plus, it’s extremely difficult to please people nowadays. But if the script is executed properly, then movie executives and directors needn’t worry at all.
Here’s my advice. If you are a potential movie producer and your only concern is federal green, then go with a PG 13 rating. Take Avatar, Titanic, and the Avengers for proof.
However, study Scorsese and Tarantino if you care about the art. They are the crème de la crème because they realize the real world isn’t a cupcake. Indeed, when you’re the best you can make a fortune telling/ making up all kinds of stories.

The following 10 restricted movies have generated great revenues. Let’s discuss the highest earning R-Rated movies. Disclaimer: these totals account only for domestic.

10. 300 $210,614,939

300 caused controversy due to its depiction of ancient Middle Eastern figures. Despite some uproar, 300 generated 9 figures at the box office. I guess you did remember Sparta, huh? Gerard Butler displayed greatness as the lead actor.
9. Saving Private Ryan $216,540,909
The Steven Spielberg directed Saving Private Ryan is one of two military movies on the list. Released July 24, 1998 the film showcased Tom Hank’s brilliance and Matt Damon’s tenacity. Millions of soldiers identify with the harsh realities of service to country. Make Memorial Day special by remembering those heroes who died for freedom and democracy.
8. Ted $218,815,487

On a light note, Seth MacFarlane’s brainchild Ted is the eighth highest earning R-Rated flick. The Family Guy and American Dad creator made a name for himself to the tune of $150 million, his estimated net worth according to sources. Teaming up with Mark Wahlberg was not only wise but also profitable for MacFarlane. What is more, Ted is an inappropriately funny motion picture with a highly anticipated sequel.
7. The Exorcist $232,906,145
The Exorcist first frightened audiences when it was released on June 19, 1973 in New York City. This film shattered several records because William Peter Blatty’s book and screenplay took taboo topics head-on. Plus, the controversial film is a cinematic classic with wide acclaim. Clearly, the Exorcist is commonly referenced and a major part of popular culture.
6. Beverly Hills Cop $234,760,478
Is Eddie Murphy the best comedic actor ever? Evidently, the 1984 Beverly Hills Cop movie is the highest earning R-Rated film adjusted for inflation. The franchise is very funny. While every Eddie Murphy show isn’t spectacular, everyone appreciates his epic contributions to cinema and comedy.
5. The Hangover Part II $254,464,305

Although Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms are terrific thespians, we really watch the Hangovers because of Zach Galifianakis. The Hangover Part II continues the dramatic comedy-action saga in Bangkok, Thailand. Mike Tyson makes another cameo this time as the wedding singer. Don’t you wish Black & White Dougs would receive more lines rather than get kidnapped?
4. The Hangover $277,322,503
My all time favorite comedy movie is the Hangover. Who remembers the Taser scene? What about Mike Tyson’s knockout punch to Galifianakis’ head while Phil Collin’s In the Air Tonight played in the background? The 2009 movie should have won at least one Academy Award. Right now it’s considered the highest earning R-Rated comedy in history.
3. The Matrix Reloaded $281,576,461

 Photos By: Wikimedia Commons

The Matrix Reloaded is the third highest earning R-Rated movie for good reason. Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne were perfect for their roles. In addition, I found Gina Torres and Jada Pinkett Smith to be wonderful supporting actresses. Like the Exorcist, the Matrix movies are crucial components of society i.e. ducking and dodging stuff.
2. American Sniper $345,670,073

American Sniper is the second military movie on the list. How many times have I expressed why Cooper deserved an Oscar for his portrayal of Navy Seal Chris Kyle? Also, director Clint Eastwood strongly conveyed his passion for film. For what it’s worth, American Sniper has an emotionally powerful ending.
1 The Passion of the Christ $370,782,930
Mel Gibson’s 2004 the Passion of the Christ is the highest earning R-Rated movie of all time. Numbers following dollar signs never deceive. The Passion of the Christ is Gibson’s Magnus Opus. If you love language, then you’ll thoroughly enjoy the Passion’s Aramaic script.

Describe your first time watching an R-Rated movie.

Top 10 Comedy Movies

What’s so funny?  I can hear you laughing through your webcam. Are you on YouTube watching that funny Van Wilder scene?

Van Wilder is great. Of course, it is a loose remake of the classic Animal House. Animal House is the # 1 college comedy of all time. But, that’s another story.

By the way, I’m just joking. I’m not spying on you. I leave that to the governments of the world. Their job is to keep you in line. My job is to entertain you.

Hopefully, my story will make you laugh to the point you start crying. Don’t you love tears of joy? So, ease up, relax your shoulders and have fun.

Movie Analyst

I am the first ever Movie Analyst.  Don’t ever call me a movie critic. Why?

No offense to movie critics, but who pays attention to you? Rotten Tomatoes doesn’t affect the box office results. If a movie has a big enough budget it won’t fail. And, that’s why I’m not a movie critic.

I’m a Movie Analyst. Movie critics do not have clout. On the other hand, as a movie analyst I have a small amount of sway. I analyze films for my audience.

I love movies. You see filmmaking is an art, a science and a business. If you love movies too, there is a job for you. It takes an army to make a movie.

I appreciate fine arts. And, I present the finest material. I am your source for entertainment, celebrities and pop culture.

The following list consists of my favorite comedy movies. I analyzed all these films to their inner core. These are the funniest films of our generation. Enjoy.

#10 Bruce Almighty

It’s no secret Morgan Freeman thinks he’s God. Seriously, Morgan’s huge ego stems from Bruce Almighty. Anyway, Freeman is believable as God.

Bruce Almighty is one of my favorite Jim Carrey movies. We forget Jim was God too. I like this movie because of the clever concept. It is somewhat original.

The film is superbly written. The acting is fantastic. What more do you want?

#9 Bad Boys

Bad Boys starring Martin Lawrence and Will Smith is a hidden gem. Lawrence and Smith play two budding police partners. In the movie, Martin is jealous of Will’s money, success and luck with women.

Smith is called a bad boy because he magnetizes ladies. On the flip side, Martin is unlucky and unhappy and he is bad for a different reason. Martin and Will are a great combination.

#8 American Pie

American Pie was an instant classic. Iggy Azalea would have named it the new classic. But you see the film had a unique flavor of sour green Apple Pie.

You have never tasted a movie quite like American Pie. It is the second greatest comedic ensemble of our generation. Here’s a clip for your viewing pleasure.

#7 40 Year-Old Virgin

40 Year-Old Virgin is the movie that made Steve Carrel famous. The film is in its own class. It is very original. Can you name another movie just like it?

I applaud creativity in the entertainment industry. It is real difficult to do something that has never been done. But 40 Year-Old Virgin is an exception.

#6 Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me

Austin Powers is an absolute must-see. The movie is a parody of the James Bondsfilm series. Mike Meyers plays an eccentric character with a sweet spot.

Austin Powers is definitely the goofiest movie on my list. Sometimes though goofy is funny. Mike Myers is the man about town. This is his magnum opus.

#5 Men in Black

Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith play super secret agents. They are so secret no one knows they exist. In other words, they make sure you don’t know the truth.

With a push of a button, the Men in Black can erase your memories. They are so called “galaxy defenders.” Anyway, Men in Black is the perfect summer comedy.

#4 Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle

I don’t care if you are a vegan or vegetarian. After watching Harold and Kumar, you will crave White Castle like Prince William. John Cho and Kal Penn deserve royalties from the fast food chain.

Harold and Kumar touches on sensitive material such as racism, sexism and drug use. The script is solid. And what’s more, the jokes are funny and timely.

#3 Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

Did you say Saturday Night Live? Forget that. You mean Talladega Nights.

Will Ferrell is one of the funniest men on planet Earth because of The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. You don’t have to be remotely interested in NASCAR in order to appreciate the film. Talladega Nights takes funny business to a higher level.

#2 Rush Hour

“Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?” Watch a clip from Rush Hour. Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are the funniest cop partners in cinematic history. They come from different worlds.

I liked Rush Hour 2 and 3 almost just as much. But, the first one is always the best. You’re introduced to new characters and you have no idea what to expect.

#1 The Hangover

The Hangover set and broke records. It is the funniest movie of our generation. In my mind, nothing comes close. From start to finish, the script is flawless.

One word: Galifianakis. Heck, even the actor’s name is humorous. Pop a beer can and some popcorn while you watch the film. You’re in for a treat with The Hangover. You will be entertained beyond belief.

If I could see only one comedy movie for the rest of my life, The Hangover would be that one. If you haven’t seen it, you don’t know what you’re missing. Everybody makes a valuable contribution- even Doug!
