The Definition of Great Music

Great music comes in many forms. Rap, pop, rock, country and jazz are just the tip of the iceberg. Great music is like glaciers in the arctic. It is really the size of Antarctica. It’s not the same as a generation ago, but great music is still there floating…waiting to be discovered. Will you discover it?

Have you ever listened to classical? To define great music, we must look at who controls the music. The Record labels own your ass. I’m sure you heard about how Taylor Swift is rerecording her music. She is thinking outside the box. I feel the record labels don’t want you to be free.

What if Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach were legally bound to a record label. In other news, Hasbro now owns Death Row records. A toy company is the owner of gangsta rap records. If you don’t have a problem with that, you shouldn’t have a problem with Taylor Swift rerecording her music.

Do you think corporations are ruining music? Here are my thoughts. Corporations are actually making music better. Sway doesn’t have the answers, neither does Kanye.

We’re hearing great music from all around the world because of corporations that make it possible for artists to reach the masses. Corporations are sponsoring great music everywhere. Apple Music, VEVO, and Spotify provide great tools for discovery.

I’m also sure you heard Jay Z (ROC Nation) made a deal with the NFL. Jay Z may even become a part-owner of a football team according to TMZ. It’s an interesting development.

The point is everything is changing fast. You gotta keep up with the times. Great music is everywhere. Rihanna is a private flight away from performing at a concert near you. That’s who should do the halftime show if you ask me.

Corporations are not saints. In the end, the bottom line is profit for them. In my opinion, art shouldn’t be corporatized. However, the definition of great music is a profitable sound.

Have you seen Harry Connick Jr.’s new talk show? The former American Idol judge hosts the self-titled Harry show. It’s a fun and upbeat show similar to Ellen DeGeneres’s The Ellen Show.

I’ve seen Harry multiple times. I watched him today right before TMZ Live. Maureen McCormick from the Brady Bunch was his main guest. Everybody in attendance had a good time. Plus, the viewers at home (including me) were pleased.

Near the end of the recording, Harry performed a beautiful song and played the piano. Few people in TV and showbiz are multitalented. What is more, no one can deny his masterful skills.

Born and bred in New Orleans, this celebrity’s calling card is his likability. Everybody loves Raymond and Harry too. Connick Jr. possesses the pizzazz. Like Bradley Cooper, he mixes up the gumbo. The secret ingredient is charisma.

Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan was bestowed the same gift. I call this the Like Factor. All Harry has to do is smile a little. That’s all. And, he’ll possibly replace Billy Bush on the Today show.

Millions of people all around the world want entertainment value with their viewership. They need personalities to latch unto, identify with, and support. Now that Oprah’s retired, fans crave evermore.

I feel Harry Connick Jr.’s talk show might not last 5 seasons, but his brand will last 5 more decades. They will compare him to Tony Bennett. The question is who will be his Lady Gaga.

How It Ends

You hardly ever see someone making strides, leaps, and bounds in both music and TV. Without question, his name belongs on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He’s too talented to be put on the back burner.

You see, Harry Connick Jr. succeeds because he’s well connected. Harry Connick Jr. succeeds because of the New Orleans connection. Ellen, Lil Wayne, and all the money makers were born and bred there.

Who’s Winning? Charlie Sheen Vs. Rihanna

Rihanna has one of the most durable brands in music. And Charlie Sheen is ‘winning!’

Thank you Twitter for promoting this epic battle between Charlie Sheen and Rihanna. In case you missed the boat, Charlie called Rihanna out for refusing to meet his girlfriend at a restaurant. And so, Badgirl Riri tweeted a bad 140 characters to Carlos Estevez after he blasted her via the TMZ train.

If you ask me, they are both full of themselves. Both sides need to loosen up and deflate their egos like NFL balls. Riri has bigger fish to fry than Sheen. And Chuck should just shut his trap.

Charlie, we get it. You are a TV icon. And you made some great movies like Wall Street and Major League. But buddy, music is a different ball game. Rihanna has a navy fleet of supporters.

Rihanna, we get it. Who doesn’t want to meet you? Charlie tried to impress his fiancé. But baby, you do catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Give Rihanna a break because she deals with millions of crazies everyday. Seriously, look at Charlie’s Twitter and compare it with Rihanna. Sheen should have chosen his words more carefully.

We haven’t seen the best of Rihanna yet. Not even 27 years old, the Barbados princess hasn’t peaked. At 33, Beyoncé is still Queen Bee and in her prime.

On the flip side, Sheen had his day with Two and a Half Men. Charlie started acting in ’73 largely because of his father Martin’s connections. Sheen can brag all he wants about “experience.” However, he neglects to mention he followed Martin’s footsteps.

Rihanna clawed her way to the top, steadily grinding. She doesn’t deserve Charlie calling her an ‘ungrateful idiot.’ I can’t support Chuck’s blatant disrespect. He should apologize to Rihanna pronto. Anyway, Eminem is a text away from dissing Sheen in a rap.

Thespian Reese Witherspoon delivers terrific performances because she stretches her roles. There aren’t many actresses that possess Witherspoon’s talent level. Perpetrators imitate movie stars like Reese everyday to no avail.

The Louisiana slugger is a seasoned veteran who tackles obstacles like Richard Sherman. Sometimes Witherspoon stirs up trouble with her silver tongue mouth. TMZ released video footage of a drunken Reese talking back to police during a traffic stop.

Who decided to prop celebrities up on pedestals? All it takes is a single screw-up and their careers are severely damaged. Paparazzi cause so much destruction.

Luckily for Reese Witherspoon, bad publicity didn’t hurt her. Because the celebrity is a very important person she receives a pass. Who hasn’t seen a Witherspoon movie?

The ‘Gone Girl’ producer and ‘Legally Blonde’ actress appeared in her first film 25 years ago. She is worth at least $80 million. If you need a blockbuster, negotiate with Witherspoon.

Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz belongs in the best actress discussion. The adorable Diaz demonstrates massive appeal. Cameron’s down-to-earth nature and lighthearted persona are her best qualities.

Cameron’s doesn’t need validation from the Oscars. The celebrity is worth over $90 million. Who needs the Academy, when you’re on the Forbes list?

How can you talk about Diaz without acknowledging Tom Cruise? Movie stars Cameron and Cruise always shine brightest together. I love ‘Vanilla Sky’ largely because of Cameron’s involvement.

If you want an entertaining movie, visit Cameron’s IMDB profile for a complete list. Diaz doesn’t disappoint as far as entertainment. The creative performance artist paints masterpieces.

Aspiring celebrities should take note of Cameron’s style. She shows appreciation to fans. Finally, Cameron embraces her audience with virtual hugs and kisses.

Reese and Cameron have several similarities. They are both tremendously gifted celebrities. Witherspoon is the best actress. But Diaz is a better entertainer.
