What Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera Meant to Music

BY: GURU JAY

Before YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter were invented, Britney Spears was a monarch social butterfly. Before Apple announced iPhones or Google created Androids, the Disney princess’s number was first in Oprah Winfrey’s Rolodex. Before technology changed the music business, Britney Spears was unquestionably the most famous person alive.
Strike while the iron’s hot
Britney Spears didn’t waste time showcasing talent, revealing assets, and selling sexuality. From the beginning, the celebrity understood branding and secured lucrative endorsements. Who can forget the critically acclaimed Pepsi Super Bowl commercial, which solidified her brand’s identity?
If Justin Timberlake’s President, then Britney’s Chancellor. Supporters are still waiting for a Britney and Justin collaboration. A duet together would propel both Spears and Timberlake.

People purchased Britney Spears’ merchandise because they identified with Britney’s background and personality. Always smiling, the superstar personified happiness. Moreover, the music artist clearly appreciated her fandom.
Name your favorite Britney Spears’ music videos, albums, and concerts.
Christina Aguilera

The sensational singer/ incredible vocalist Christina Aguilera is music’s Jennie Barbara Eden. There’s a reason why Xtina was a judge for ‘The Voice.’ Musicians respect the superstar’s ability to control pitch like Mick Jagger and Adam Levine. The entertainer isn’t a Maroon 5 member or Rolling Stone but she’s a powerful songstress.
Xtina will soon pass 14 million Twitter followers and the celebrity currently has 26 million Facebook likes. Aguilera collects social media friends like Coca-Cola collects bottle caps. Furthermore, Christina reaches millions with her wonderful performances and beautiful songs. You can’t deny Christina Aguilera’s strong effect.
Once upon a time, there was a bitter rivalry between Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. There’s still a remnant of competition among the celebrities. The young entertainers fueled the entertainment business with their fuel-efficient drives and ferocities.

Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera meant the world to the music industry.

Why Jimi Hendrix Was the Greatest

BY: GURU JAY

 He made the guitar talk!

Do you like rock and roll? I like it when the band jumps into the crowd. Then, at the very end they smash the guitar to pieces and the stage catches on fire.
It’s well known that every rock star destroys property. Go inside a rock band’s hotel room. You’ll find that everything is broken because that’s how real rock stars roll.
Groupies are probably the best part of the tour. The majority of us live in a conformist society. So, alternative lifestyles are appealing to music fans.
Jimi Hendrix
Although Jimi Hendrix died in 1970, most of his groupies were born in the ‘80s and 90’s. Why is this the case? Jimi Hendrix was young at heart.
It’s unfortunate that his life was cut short. While Jimi’s body left the world when he was only 27, his spirit is still with us. His music lives forever.
Hendrix was the greatest guitar soloist of all time. Contrary to popular belief, he didn’t play the electric guitar. No, the man played with electricity.
He was more than a musician. Did you know he was a soldier? After getting arrested for theft, the judge said he could go to prison or enlist in the army.
What’s your favorite Jimi Hendrix song? Do you like Purple Haze? If you love music, listen to The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
Can you imagine Woodstock without the electric guitarist? Without question, Jimi Hendrix still has a strong impact on music. If I could time travel, I’d go back to 1970 and save Jimi Hendrix.

The Urban Legend of Taylor Swift

BY: GURU JAY

Why has Taylor Swift abandoned country for pop music? Taylor is a great singer who used to sing ballads to Tim McGraw and Toby Keith. What happened?
4 years ago Beyoncé and Jay Z couldn’t care less about Taylor Swift.  Now, they’re hanging out together. What’s happening?
If Swift stayed country, she’d be richer. Remember there are riches in niches. Country is profitable because there isn’t a lot of competition. Still, country can only take Taylor so far because it only sells in America.
I predict Taylor Swift will go back to country when she’s older. Pop music targets teenagers not senior citizens. So, Taylor is rapidly expanding her fan base.
Yes, she’s losing a few fans but she’s gaining more. I wonder how she reached 72 million Facebook likes and 49 million Twitter followers. What is the price of fame?
Are you a Swiftie? I don’t want to pretend like I’m a fan. I admire Taylor. I don’t hold anything against the superstar. But, she belongs to country.
Urban Legend
I finally figured out the Taylor Swift riddle. It is not about money. She wants to be an Urban Legend.
You see country music fans reside in rural areas. Mainstream music fans live in urban areas. If Taylor wants fans in Japan, she’ll have to fly to Tokyo.
The best fans are in Metropolis places such as Los Angeles, New York, and London.  It makes sense that she’s a New York ambassador. While other celebrities play charades with fans, Taylor Swift is playing chess.

Fandom: Are You A Fan, Fantastic or A Fanatic?

BY: GURU JAY

Are You A Fan, Fantastic or A Fanatic?

Who is your favorite celebrity? Who do you follow on Twitter? Are you in a fan club?

Are you a fan, fantastic or a fanatic?

Justin Bieber, One Direction, and Miley Cyrus have huge fan bases. I’m sure you’ve seen hash tags such as #Beliebers #Directioners and #Smilers. You see singers are popular on Twitter largely due to YouTube. Every musician has a VEVO.
RihannaVevo is the most viewed channel on YouTube. It’s not a coincidence that Rihanna is also a Twitter sensation. The petite Barbados babe calls her fans the #RihannaNavy.
She is one of my top 5 favorite pop stars. Very few can compete with her consistency. Rihanna is a reliable hit maker. Every year she puts out edgy music videos.
Rapper Eminem has 18.6 million Twitter followers. And this number is constantly growing. The 41 year-old Detroit native is defying logic. It’s been reported that the rapper and Rihanna are in a relationship together.
Check out this video ‘Stan.’ It addresses fandom. This is one of Eminem’s best songs.

If you have a talent make sure you use it. If you want to be a celebrity, you need diehard fans. Check out How to Be Famous. If you follow the steps you’ll be a superstar!

Fanatics are crucial to celebrity brands. Demi Lovato calls her fans ‘Lovatics.’ Oprah Winfrey’s brand names include Harpo, O’ (magazine), and Owners (network).

Lady Gaga’s ‘Little Monsters’ and Katy Perry’s ‘KatyCats’ are at each other’s throats. They’re too competitive for their own sakes. It would be nice to hear a Gaga/Katy duet.

FANDOM

Fandom first started with Elvis Presley. Elvis was a musical genius. The King of Rock and Roll is still held in high regard. He is the Las Vegas legend.
You can make a good living impersonating Elvis. Work on your hair, dance moves, and singing style. Elvis Presley was truly one of a kind.
Marilyn Monroe was more than a sex symbol. She was the face of Hollywood. Her image is still recognized.
Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, influenced a generation of music artists; and so, has the Queen of Pop Madonna. She is a transformational musician. Copycat celebrities sample their songs. A wise man said ‘Imitation is the best form of flattery.’
Robin Thicke is accused of stealing Marvin Gaye’s music. Thicke’s Blurred Lines uses Marvin’s sound and hook. Due to this, Robin is in legal trouble. Marvin Gaye’s family is upset.

Lady Gaga’s #LittleMonsters and Katy Perry’s #KatyCats are highly effective. There are far too many fan-bases to name them all. But I want to highlight the best ones.

Beliebers, Directioners, and Lovatics dominate Twitter. In this day and age, it is very important to have a strong Internet presence. I do what I can on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. It’s all about connecting fans with a network.

I like Miley Cyrus’ Smilers. They are a loyal bunch. Loyalty is a rare asset. I remember how loyal her fans were to her when she had a health scare.  The Smilers posted ‘get well soon’ messages all over the social media sites.
Miley Cyrus is great at interacting with Smilers. The way Justin Bieber engages Beliebers is unreal. To date, JB has over 27,000 tweets!

Do celebrities get on your nerves? Yes, they do sometimes. But thanks to technology, we can get the inside scoop. Now we’re able to Google everything.

MADONNA

Most celebrities appreciate their fandom. Some celebs just show it better. To tell you the truth, I couldn’t tell you the difference between a Directioner and North West before joining Twitter.
I’ve been on Twitter for only five months and I’m already getting benefits. I love how my followers re-tweet me. That means they’re listening and I’m interesting.
Can you imagine Elvis Presley using social media? He would have 100 million Twitter followers. Without a doubt, social networking strengthens your fan base.
Do you think Reality TV could survive without the World Wide Web? The Kardashians based their careers off a viral Internet sex tape. Paris Hilton also gained notoriety from a naughty movie.
I never was a big fan of Reality programs. Now, I’m somewhere in the middle. Reality Shows- I can’t live with them; and, I can’t live without them.
Do you know watch Duck Dynasty? I know people who watch the A&E show religiously. I’ve seen a couple shows myself; and, it’s not bad.
I think TV is in good hands. It’s nice to see a good mix of sitcoms, sci-fi, dramas, action, and reality. I also enjoy educational programming and documentaries.
Do you watch Cosmos? Astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson has a big following of geeks, nerds and exhibitionists. However, the Kardashians and Ducks likely have the biggest Reality TV fan base.
Highly rated shows like the Big Bang Theory, Game of Thrones and House of Cards carry a ton of weight. Still, remember that the celebrity or brand is only as good as the fans. The fan is always right.
Science Fiction and Fantasy fans take fandom to another level. Have you heard of Firefly’s Brown Coats? Are you a Star Wars fan or a Trekkie?
Fan clubs take on many forms. Conan O’Brien calls his followers TeamCoco. You’ll find many celebrities that use Team as a hash tag. Whether the clubs are official or unofficial, they achieve the same goal.
Music, movies and television all require an audience. The entertainment industry will not survive without fans. That’s why brands bombard YouTube with ads. Don’t you hate it when the ad is longer than the video?
Click to read The Importance Of A FanBase & How to Grow One. I suggest you think like a celebrity. Why? It’s simple. Celebrities earn a good living. Just watch your expenses.
If you plan to be as a celebrity, start building your fan base now. Despite what you hear, achieving fandom takes time. You can speed it up but at what cost? Fame has a hefty price.

Watch movies and TV for entertainment purposes as well as information. Don’t just listen to the beat. Concentrate on the lyrics. Finally, don’t forget to pause, so that you can put things in perspective.

How to Party Like a Rock Star and Rock Like a Rolling Stone

Invitation to My Party

How would you like to party like a movie scene straight from Project X? Yeah baby, I’m talking about toasting to the good life. If it gets too hot, jump in the pool to get wet.

You’re invited to my party. Please accept if you want to have a wild night. Bring your friends.

Where is it? The party is here on the Guru Jay blog. I hope you like the new layout.

You can now customize your experience. Choose from 7 cool features: Classic, Flipcard, Magazine, Mosaic, Sidebar, and Timeslide. By the way, you’re a VIP.

VIP

How do you party like a rock star? How do you rock like a rolling stone? You need style, substance and loyal fans.

Have you noticed how celebrities go out their way to thank their fans? Why are there so many “fantastic” celebrities? Loyalty is priceless.

Fandom comes with a price. If you want to make it, you have to work smart. You can work too hard, but you cannot work too smart.

Miley Cyrus is highly intelligent. Her brand is one of the most marketable products in show business. The young talented singer breaks the rules.

The first rule is to break the rules. Successful celebrities are on the edge. They’re constantly challenging the status quo.

Rihanna is a heartbreaker and also a rule breaker. She pushes the envelope and delivers the mail. She is number 1 on YouTube, because she makes her own rules.

The second rule is there is no such thing as bad publicity. Miley is at odds with the wrecking ball. She demands your undivided attention.

Creativity is a requirement to being a rock star. If you’re a regular 9 to 5 average Joe Doe, then the rock lifestyle is not for you. But, if you dare to be different come on and audition.

If you’re going to party, rock like Miley Cyrus. Miley understands her superstardom. She is a young superstar who has already established her place in music history.

I started following Miley Cyrus on Twitter today. Although I am a not a big fan of her music I am infatuated with her personality.

Her website is even different. Check it out here.

The best way to become a rock star is to be you. Real rock stars are one of a kind. Unlike poker players, you can’t bluff rocking like a Rolling Stone.

Your ego needs adjusting in order to party like a rock star. You can’t care about upsetting some people with your controversial views. You have to stay true to yourself.

The third rule is to break a leg. I’m not saying you should sprain your ankle or tear your Achilles tendon. All I am saying is luck plays a major part in your success.

Brad Pitt will be the first to tell you Lady Luck is his BFF. He says he is lucky to be in his position as an actor. He’s right.

In Hollywood, they tell you to break a leg right before your performance. If you want to be an actor, start acting like an actor. Faking it to you make it, is not the same as escaping reality.

Have you noticed how everyone’s ego in Tinseltown is bigger than a watermelon? Why are their egos the size of melons or Kanye West- bigger than Jupiter? You have to inflate your hot air balloon before the haters deflate your dreams.

The fourth rule is to learn how to play the guitar. If you don’t know how to play, grab a copy of Guitar Hero.  The commercial is cool and so is the game.

Guitar Hero

Learn from the greatest guitarist and rock star Jimi Hendrix. It’s easy to see why he is legendary. Here are links to the Jimi Hendrix Experience Album on YouTube and MySpace

The electric guitar is the rock star’s favorite instrument. There’s something about how the strings generate fires and echoes off of walls. You’ll learn the trade fi you’re serious about superstardom.

Break the rules. Better yet, make the rules. Live by your code.

Imagine waking up everyday whenever you feel like it. If you’re late, it’s okay because you’re the boss. Bruce Springsteen sings about you in his songs.

As soon as you walk out the door of your Malibu mansion, 100 fans are waiting for your autograph. What do you do? You kindly explain you got a job to do.

You are your job. There are impersonators who make a living emulating your style. But they will never be you, because you are one of a kind.

You’re also a jack-of-all-trades. American Idol, America Got Talent and The Voice have contacted you. They want you to be a judge on their shows.

You have so many choices and so little time. Do you wonder about the drawbacks? Well, you haven’t seen your lady in three months.

It’s too easy for groupies to fall in love with you. It’s so hard for you to fall in love with a groupie. What will you do for love?

You canceled three shows on your world tour in order to go back home. All these are scenarios. I say the perks out way the sacrifices.

Mr. Big Stuff, Who Do You Think You Are?

The following is a list of Rock Stars with the biggest fans:

 Writer

James Patterson is a prolific novelist. If you’re a writer you respect Patterson. Can you name another author on his level?

Writing is my life.  Of course, I am impartial to the writer’s lifestyle. It’s fun and rewarding.

I believe writers have the most loyal fans. Think about the Twilight Saga, Harry Potter, and the Hunger Games. Trust me, writers have some of the biggest fans.

I received a ton of fan mail during my time as a journalist. It was awesome. There is power with the pen.

Musician

Music makes the world spin. Being on stage  is an exciting feeling.  What is better than making a living by touring the world?

The best thrills come from being a Rock Star. Concerts are a way for superstars to connect with fans. The spotlight is always shining on you.

Many of your fans, know you better than your brand. You can’t party without music. That’s why musicians are so valuable.

They show up and bring the music with them. You don’t have to get intoxicated. All you have to do is boogie and have yourself a good time. It’s a natural ecstasy.

Athlete

I heard Kobe Bryant parties hard. It makes sense because he lives in Hollywood. If you play basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers, no party is off limits to you. State your  last name and number and the hostess will escort you to your reserved seat.

It seems basketball, players have the most fun. But, Baseball stars come in at a close second.  I always read bout ball players messing up in the off-season.

Actor

Partying is part of an actor’s job description. It’s a no-brainer; if you have the chops become an actor.  Get in the right movie and you’ll be a celebrity overnight

Ken Jeong gave up practicing medicine for rehearsing roles. He became famous overnight by joining the Hangover cast. The Detroit native is a dream come true.

Actors are the most confident rock stars. They’re know for getting into trouble too. If you can be an actor, do it.

Comedian

Comedians have the hardest jobs in show business. You may make a 100 people laugh but there will always be 1 heckler. The heckler’s job is to make your night hectic.

You need thick skin to get this shindig. Like actors, you must exude confidence. Otherwise, things go downhill fast.

Personality

Every writer, musician, athlete, actor and comedian is a personality in essence. There are exceptions But, most personalities are talented in another area.

Personalities have the most fun at parties. Why? Because they are either offending somebody or making us laugh or cry.

Local

Everybody knows your name. The majority of local celebrities are well known in their regions. There are exceptions.

It is rare to see local rock stars expand worldwide. But it happens. Prince is a rare rock star who began in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Kid Rock Party

We’re going to party like a Rock Star. Were’ going to rock like a Rolling Stone. Like Kid Rock (Detroit Party Don’t Stop) We’re going to go at it non-stop.

Party Rock Anthem
