The 1-2-3 of Music: Elvis, Michael Jackson, and Prince

BY: GURU JAY

1.

Music makes the world go ’round. Hear what I’m saying, now. Everything can potentially become music to your ears. The way she speaks to you in that special tone is music. The way our car engine rumbles is music.

Guru Jay thinks he has figured out the world. Let me elaborate some more. Let’s start the show!

Today’s blog is all about music and greatness. Who is the greatest music artist? Maybe, Elvis, Michael Jackson, and Prince in that order.

A better question is who’s music makes the world go ’round the most. I feel that’s a difficult question to answer because first of all what defines the world? Are we living under the same sun but in two different worlds?

I’ve climbed a different mountain than you. I’ve seen Hollywood stars through a different set of lens. Did you know I wear glasses? Not prescription but sunglasses because I’m cool. And you ladies and gents are the coolest fans on the Planet Earth. I know I’ve got some cool fans on Mars by now. Shout out to Elon Musk and Google.

Put it to you this way. Like Elvis, I can’t help falling in love with you and some things are meant to be. You’re meant to read GuruJay.com right now.

2.

Where are my Michael Jackson fans? You all are the most precious on the globe. Happy Belated Halloween! Because this is “Thriller, Thriller, Night. You’re fighting for your life!”

Maybe, Prince was the greatest because he owned all his work. The artist known by a symbol was a true businessman. He left behind wealth in terms of financial and musical.

Maybe, nobody can be better than Elvis. In total, Elvis sold approximately 1 billion records. So it’s safe to say if alive he would be a billionaire. What is more, he has nearly 1 billion fans. It seems like there a billion Presley impersonators. Plus, the Blue Suede shoe salesman leads a quarter million Twitter followers.

3.

Michael Jackson has 76 million Facebook likes. Prince made Purple Rain and the rest is history. To conclude, I’ve come to a conclusion that Elvis, Michael Jackson and Prince made the world go ’round with their music.

How Zendaya and Tinashe Shake, Rattle, and Roll

BY: GURU JAY
My motto is: shake, rattle, and roll. Do you want to shake, rattle, and roll with me? Check out Guru Jay Archives at your leisure for the best blogs in entertainment.

Zendaya and Tinashe are two people I know who are ready to shake, rattle, and roll. At 19, it seems Zendaya already has it together. Her products sell easily. And few entertainers can do what she does. Also at 23, Tinashe has a lot going on.

Corrine Bailey Rae sings, “girl, put your records on.” Let’s put Zendaya on Replay because she’s been put on the map. Plus, her music continues to give fans benefits without a doubt.

Tinashe is giving the media headlines to write. Apparently, she’s dating the 5 AM musician Calvin Harris. You see she’s got plenty of tricks up her sleeves.

Zendaya is providing Something New. What is more, the singer, dancer, and actress is diversified in entertainment assets. As a Disney Alumni, she can relax knowing that royalty checks are coming in the mail. Moreover, the celebrities make money like Lil Wayne and 50 Cent.

What if Tinashe and Zendaya collaborated with Keke Palmer? Could you imagine Tinashe performing as a Hollywood actress? The Lexington, Kentucky songstress isn’t too far off from making her showbiz dreams come true. I can see both of them possessing a Hollywood Star on the Walk of Fame in the very near future. One such hollywood star with a distant past is Elvis Presley.

Elvis sang, “Well I said shake, rattle and roll
I said shake rattle and roll
I said shake, rattle and roll
I said shake rattle and roll
Well you won’t do right
To save your doggone soul”

In closing, Zendaya and Tinashe shake, rattle, and roll by engaging millions of fans everyday on social media. Do you follow them on Twitter and Instagram? Do you follow me on Twitter and Instagram? My Twitter handle is @IamGuruJay and my instagram is @TheGuruJay. Let’s connect!

Can You Get More Famous Than Michael Jackson?

BY: GURU JAY

Can you get more famous than Michael Jackson? The King of Pop ruled popular culture with a velvet glove and red leather jacket. He still has wild fans going crazy all over the place. Plus, he had a big fortune in addition to fame.

Nobody, not even Beyonce, can get more famous than Michael Jackson. Beyonce may wind up with more money, but not fame. Let me know if you disagree.

Like Prince, Whitney Houston and Aaliyah Michael Jackson gave his all. He displayed passion and compassion. Further, he was highly regarded as a humanitarian.

When it came to premium entertainers, Michael was the best they came. His singing voice was accurate beyond belief. His dance moves mesmerized crowds. He understood how to entertain. That’s why he was great.

When he died, people immediately thought he faked his death like Elvis and Tupac supposedly had done.

Everyone can name a Michael Jackson song. Almost everyone has seen one of his music videos. Have you tried moon walking? Michael popularized it!

What are your favorite Michael Jackson songs and music videos? Some of my favorites are: You Rock My World, Black or White, Smooth Criminal, and Dirty Diana. Are you a fan of the Jackson 5? I love Who’s Loving You?, I Want You Back, and ABC.

You’ll find people dancing to Thriller from New York to as far as Tokyo. The whole world knows “Billie Jean is not my lover.” “She’s just a girl who says I am the one.” And according to Maury, you are not the father!

Michael Jackson has sold an estimated 400 million records internationally. Moreover, the Thriller album is the greatest selling album of all time with 65 million claimed sales. It’s easy to claim that billions around the world are familiar with MJ’s rhythm and blues.

Final thoughts, can you get more famous than the King of Pop? Without question, you simply can’t get more famous than Michael Jackson. Many will try to, though.

Chuck Berry Is Greater Than An Icon

BY: GURU JAY

What is Rock and Roll without Chuck Berry? Chuck Berry is greater than an icon. The legend was born in St. Louis Missouri.
Moreover, his sounds are heard like Cardinals and Blue Jays all around the world. He sings like a Robin and dances like a Cuckoo Bird. Plus he plays the guitar like an Ostrich.
Looking back at his accomplishments it’s easy to get lost for words. How do you honor the most honorable? Some say Chuck Berry became King of Rock and Roll.
What’s your favorite Chuck Berry song? Whether Johnny B. Goode or Maybellene, Berry’s hits are homeruns, triples, and doubles. Berry’s singles are #1s in any era. Plus the celebrity knows how to make people have fun at concerts.

With songs like Ding-a-ling, people admire his sense of humor. When I think about Rock music, I think about Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, the Beatles, and Chuck Berry. At an uneasy time in history, Berry brought black and white together. He was born in 1926. He lived through the riots and uproar.
Moreover, Berry believes in his music. That’s why millions believe in him. I’ve listened to Chuck Berry on Vinyl records. It’s not the same on CD. Something about a record spinning entices the ears as well as the eyes. What beats the Chuck Berry sound?
Right now Rock desperately demands another Chuck Berry. Let’s honor the one and only today. Appreciate all living legends because they deserve acknowledgement while they are still here. Recognize their value and contributions.
In closing, I love math. That’s proof Americans do love math. A sign I used often is (>) greater than. Well in case I ever receive an autograph from Mr. Berry, I want him to sign > after his signature because Chuck Berry is greater than an icon.

Bee Gees + The Beach Boys = Too Much Heaven and Good Vibrations

BY: GURU JAY

Bee Gees and the Beach Boys songs are timeless pieces. Take for instance these following lyrics:
We’re living in a world of fools
Breaking us down
When they all should let us be
We belong to you and me
Ain’t that the truth?! We spot fools everyday.
How about this?
The Midwest farmer’s daughters really make you feel alright
And the Northern girls with the way they kiss
They keep their boyfriends warm at night…
I wish they all could be California girls
What’s better than receiving California love?
Between the Beach Boys and Bee Gees you can’t go wrong. I listen to the bands to calm my nerves. Put on Surfin USA and that will do the trick. After listening to the record all you can think about is beach balls and Pina Coladas.

It’s a fun way to relax. Try playing Stayin Alive when you’re feeling in a bad mood. It works. I feel like the world needs good music.
Nowadays, they don’t make hits like they did in the past. That’s why we gotta do a Throwback Thursday (TBT) on Wednesday. No one sings like Barry Gibb.
Listen to Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb’s Guilty. “Little by little we meet in the middle. There’s a danger in the dark. You gotta be mine.” There’s no doubt that is a top 10 duet of all time.
Plus the Beach Boys are a top 5 band. Their music is still heard all over the globe. Yes, Elvis was a legend but he was a 1 man show. Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston, Al Jardine, and David Marks made their mark on American music history.
Finally, the Beatles weren’t the only great band from the United Kingdom. How about the band of brothers? 3 brothers named Barry, Robin, and Maurice forever changed the sound of music, especially in England.
You combine the 2 bands and you get U.S. and U.K. Ambassadors. Bee Gees + The Beach Boys= Too Much Heaven and Good Vibrations.

Fandom: Are You A Fan, Fantastic or A Fanatic?

BY: GURU JAY

Are You A Fan, Fantastic or A Fanatic?

Who is your favorite celebrity? Who do you follow on Twitter? Are you in a fan club?

Are you a fan, fantastic or a fanatic?

Justin Bieber, One Direction, and Miley Cyrus have huge fan bases. I’m sure you’ve seen hash tags such as #Beliebers #Directioners and #Smilers. You see singers are popular on Twitter largely due to YouTube. Every musician has a VEVO.
RihannaVevo is the most viewed channel on YouTube. It’s not a coincidence that Rihanna is also a Twitter sensation. The petite Barbados babe calls her fans the #RihannaNavy.
She is one of my top 5 favorite pop stars. Very few can compete with her consistency. Rihanna is a reliable hit maker. Every year she puts out edgy music videos.
Rapper Eminem has 18.6 million Twitter followers. And this number is constantly growing. The 41 year-old Detroit native is defying logic. It’s been reported that the rapper and Rihanna are in a relationship together.
Check out this video ‘Stan.’ It addresses fandom. This is one of Eminem’s best songs.

If you have a talent make sure you use it. If you want to be a celebrity, you need diehard fans. Check out How to Be Famous. If you follow the steps you’ll be a superstar!

Fanatics are crucial to celebrity brands. Demi Lovato calls her fans ‘Lovatics.’ Oprah Winfrey’s brand names include Harpo, O’ (magazine), and Owners (network).

Lady Gaga’s ‘Little Monsters’ and Katy Perry’s ‘KatyCats’ are at each other’s throats. They’re too competitive for their own sakes. It would be nice to hear a Gaga/Katy duet.

FANDOM

Fandom first started with Elvis Presley. Elvis was a musical genius. The King of Rock and Roll is still held in high regard. He is the Las Vegas legend.
You can make a good living impersonating Elvis. Work on your hair, dance moves, and singing style. Elvis Presley was truly one of a kind.
Marilyn Monroe was more than a sex symbol. She was the face of Hollywood. Her image is still recognized.
Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, influenced a generation of music artists; and so, has the Queen of Pop Madonna. She is a transformational musician. Copycat celebrities sample their songs. A wise man said ‘Imitation is the best form of flattery.’
Robin Thicke is accused of stealing Marvin Gaye’s music. Thicke’s Blurred Lines uses Marvin’s sound and hook. Due to this, Robin is in legal trouble. Marvin Gaye’s family is upset.

Lady Gaga’s #LittleMonsters and Katy Perry’s #KatyCats are highly effective. There are far too many fan-bases to name them all. But I want to highlight the best ones.

Beliebers, Directioners, and Lovatics dominate Twitter. In this day and age, it is very important to have a strong Internet presence. I do what I can on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. It’s all about connecting fans with a network.

I like Miley Cyrus’ Smilers. They are a loyal bunch. Loyalty is a rare asset. I remember how loyal her fans were to her when she had a health scare.  The Smilers posted ‘get well soon’ messages all over the social media sites.
Miley Cyrus is great at interacting with Smilers. The way Justin Bieber engages Beliebers is unreal. To date, JB has over 27,000 tweets!

Do celebrities get on your nerves? Yes, they do sometimes. But thanks to technology, we can get the inside scoop. Now we’re able to Google everything.

MADONNA

Most celebrities appreciate their fandom. Some celebs just show it better. To tell you the truth, I couldn’t tell you the difference between a Directioner and North West before joining Twitter.
I’ve been on Twitter for only five months and I’m already getting benefits. I love how my followers re-tweet me. That means they’re listening and I’m interesting.
Can you imagine Elvis Presley using social media? He would have 100 million Twitter followers. Without a doubt, social networking strengthens your fan base.
Do you think Reality TV could survive without the World Wide Web? The Kardashians based their careers off a viral Internet sex tape. Paris Hilton also gained notoriety from a naughty movie.
I never was a big fan of Reality programs. Now, I’m somewhere in the middle. Reality Shows- I can’t live with them; and, I can’t live without them.
Do you know watch Duck Dynasty? I know people who watch the A&E show religiously. I’ve seen a couple shows myself; and, it’s not bad.
I think TV is in good hands. It’s nice to see a good mix of sitcoms, sci-fi, dramas, action, and reality. I also enjoy educational programming and documentaries.
Do you watch Cosmos? Astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson has a big following of geeks, nerds and exhibitionists. However, the Kardashians and Ducks likely have the biggest Reality TV fan base.
Highly rated shows like the Big Bang Theory, Game of Thrones and House of Cards carry a ton of weight. Still, remember that the celebrity or brand is only as good as the fans. The fan is always right.
Science Fiction and Fantasy fans take fandom to another level. Have you heard of Firefly’s Brown Coats? Are you a Star Wars fan or a Trekkie?
Fan clubs take on many forms. Conan O’Brien calls his followers TeamCoco. You’ll find many celebrities that use Team as a hash tag. Whether the clubs are official or unofficial, they achieve the same goal.
Music, movies and television all require an audience. The entertainment industry will not survive without fans. That’s why brands bombard YouTube with ads. Don’t you hate it when the ad is longer than the video?
Click to read The Importance Of A FanBase & How to Grow One. I suggest you think like a celebrity. Why? It’s simple. Celebrities earn a good living. Just watch your expenses.
If you plan to be as a celebrity, start building your fan base now. Despite what you hear, achieving fandom takes time. You can speed it up but at what cost? Fame has a hefty price.

Watch movies and TV for entertainment purposes as well as information. Don’t just listen to the beat. Concentrate on the lyrics. Finally, don’t forget to pause, so that you can put things in perspective.
