Post Malone Vs. Machine Gun Kelly: Who Has the Bigger Brand?

Branding is the business of a celebrity. As an entertainer, how you package yourself says a lot about your brand. Your name matters as much as what your name is attached to. Attachments are more than just email terms. Celebrities must take care about who they endorse. Pepsi and Coke aren’t the only brand names in town. Ask Dave Chappelle which one tastes better, and be prepared for a wild answer.

If you want to be a rapper, you’re in the right place. I will tell you how. Remember to read the fine print in your contracts, and don’t do anything stupid. Those are the first steps. Above all, be yourself, write your rhymes, produce some tracks, hop on stage, and put a ring on the next Beyonce. O.K., you don’t have to do everything I prescribed, but do find yourself. What is it that makes you different?

You should pay homage to Post Malone and Machine Gun Kelly. They made their money the right way. Let’s look at the two rappers’ star power. Don’t reinvent the wheel.

POST MALONE

I offered a clue with ‘don’t reinvent the wheel.’ Most rappers sing about cars. Rick Ross made the Aston Martin song and Maybach Music. This is a common theme in Hip Hop. There’s no way around it. You must rap about a set of wheels. Also, rap about girls. Beyonce and Alicia Keys couldn’t have said it any better: “put it in a love song.” WARNING: there’s a way to rap about cars and girls. If you do so, do it with purpose and meaning.

MACHINE GUN KELLY

Don’t forget where you came from. Embrace your roots. “Put on for your city.” Machine Gun Kelly, the Cleveland rapper, represents his city better than a politician. He is also romantically linked to Megan Fox. Celebrities must share their stories, so the entertainment industry isn’t null and void. Success follows a formula, but at the same time, entertainers must tweak the rules. Relax. That stiffness in your neck needs a massage.

Who has the bigger brand: Post Malone or Machine Gun Kelly?

Born in Syracuse, New York, Post Malone is a rare breed. His music crosses genres. He stays true to the art and does what sounds good. Isn’t life all about doing what feels good? He could be another Kid Rock. Did you see him at Diddy’s 50th birthday celebration? Post Malone’s music credits include hit after hit.

Machine Gun Kelly was born in Houston, Texas, but he has strong ties to Cleveland. Check out his song Till I Die. Kelly could be a lot of things; but, one thing he is not is a sucker. Both celebrities are cool, and that is what counts. Be cool! I’m not saying you have to get tattoos, but at least take risks.

To answer the question about “who has the bigger brand?” I must examine the facts and neglect my emotions. Right now, I estimate more people know who Post Malone is than Machine Gun Kelly. (Have you seen Spenser Confidential?) Shout out to Mark Wahlberg! However, Machine Gun Kelly’s hardcore image sells more records. At the end of the day, brand power is subjective, but some things can be counted. Give it 5 years, and we’ll know without a doubt who’s bigger. Right now, the slight edge goes to Post Malone.

How Kid Cudi Takes You Up a Notch

BY: GURU JAY

I’m convinced that Cleveland, Ohio contains a secret ingredient in their water. Look at LeBron James as a prime example. I don’t blame him for returning to this city anymore.
Carrie Underwood said “there is something in the water.” Of course, Cleveland is strategically located by the Great Lake Erie. Did you know Kid Cudi was born and raised there? Not in the water silly! on land; he’s not Aquaman.
What are your favorite Kid Cudi songs? I suggest Day ‘N’ Nite, Pursuit of Happiness, and Up, Up & Away. In addition, the musician received two Grammys for All of the Lights.

Not enough bloggers pay tribute to Kid Cudi and his heavy impact on music. The average consumer listens to Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole in that order. Let me introduce you to a little variety, because isn’t life all about taking it up a notch?

Kid Cudi brings back the days of Woodstock. I’ve said it before, if I could time travel, I’d go back to 1970 and save Jimi Hendrix. Because I can’t break through the time continuum right now, I’ll see a few Cudi concerts while technology advances.

First off, Kid Cudi is underrated because he goes against the grain like Common, Mos Def, and Nas. He understands that Hip-Hop isn’t Pop. Rappers like Cudi are supposed to be vocal about social issues. Yes, pick and choose your battles, but don’t sellout and act cowardly. That’s what Iggy Azalea hasn’t learned.

Kid Cudi proves that making positive Hip-Hop music is possible. What is more, properly produced motivational songs can in fact be profitable. Cudi demonstrates why more artists should incorporate spiritual and uplifting lyrics instead of superficial and materialistic nonsense.

Aren’t you sick and tired of the rubbish you hear on the radio? Why not try something different? Listen to Kid Cudi on Pandora, iTunes, and YouTube.

Best Halle Berry Movies

BY: GURU JAY

Before striking riches and getting famous, Halle Berry competed in beauty pageants. Like Vanessa Williams, Halle Berry made her mark the old fashioned way. Through the years, the auditioning process was hectic for Halle. Still, the movie star persevered.
Credit Spike Lee for giving the celebrity her start. Born in Cleveland, Halle is well recognized around the world as the face of Revlon. She is also a perky personality with enormous talents.
True fans love Halle Berry in Introducing Dorothy Dandridge and Their Eyes Were Watching God. These two motion pictures highlight Halle Berry’s vulnerabilities. Also, who can forget Berry’s breakthrough performance in Losing Isaiah? Fortunately, Halle Berry has been in umpteen blockbusters including the X-men franchise.
The Perfect Stranger actress is no stranger to box office records. According to Box Office Mojo, Halle Berry’s lifetime movie ticket sales top $1.85 billion. Furthermore, the former Bond girl gained even more attention from her Swordfish role.

A true thespian at heart, Halle took paycuts along the way for art’s sake. For instance, Halle earned a pittance from Things We Lost in the Fire and Frankie & Alice. As a result, she has gained an elevated status. And she is well respected in Hollywood squares and among show business circles.

At the 2002 Oscars, Halle was the first African American woman to win Best Lead Actress. The Academy appreciated Halle Berry in Monster’s Ball because of its realness. If Halle Berry was the Yin, then Billy Bob Thornton was the Yang.
As preparation for this blog, I watched Berry’s Inside the Actors Studio. I learned that Halle’s career would have never happened without her mother’s loving support. Halle tells at length about her journey but never makes excuses.
It’s a joy looking back at Berry’s best films. Overtime she’s developed into a great actress. What are your favorite Halle Berry movies?
