Before YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter were invented, Britney Spears was a monarch social butterfly. Before Apple announced iPhones or Google created Androids, the Disney princess’s number was first in Oprah Winfrey’s Rolodex. Before technology changed the music business, Britney Spears was unquestionably the most famous person alive.

Strike while the iron’s hot

Britney Spears didn’t waste time showcasing talent, revealing assets, and selling sexuality. From the beginning, the celebrity understood branding and secured lucrative endorsements. Who can forget the critically acclaimed Pepsi Super Bowl commercial, which solidified her brand’s identity?

If Justin Timberlake’s President, then Britney’s Chancellor. Supporters are still waiting for a Britney and Justin collaboration. A duet together would propel both Spears and Timberlake.

People purchased Britney Spears’ merchandise because they identified with Britney’s background and personality. Always smiling, the superstar personified happiness. Moreover, the music artist clearly appreciated her fandom.

The sensational singer/ incredible vocalist Christina Aguilera is music’s Jennie Barbara Eden. There’s a reason why Xtina was a judge for ‘The Voice.’ Musicians respect the superstar’s ability to control pitch like Mick Jagger and Adam Levine. The entertainer isn’t a Maroon 5 member or Rolling Stone but she’s a powerful songstress.

Xtina will soon pass 14 million Twitter followers and the celebrity currently has 26 million Facebook likes. Aguilera collects social media friends like Coca-Cola collects bottle caps. Furthermore, Christina reaches millions with her wonderful performances and beautiful songs. You can’t deny Christina Aguilera’s strong effect.

Once upon a time, there was a bitter rivalry between Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. There’s still a remnant of competition among the celebrities. The young entertainers fueled the entertainment business with their fuel-efficient drives and ferocities.

How do you explain majoring in music, dance or theatre to your parents? In today’s technologically advanced society, Liberal Arts degrees defy conventional wisdom. I admire those courageous few that possess passion for their artistry.

There aren’t enough artists. And there are way too many lawyers. The world needs more music.

American colleges are slashing Humanities programs in favor of sciences. That’s why I’m thankful for shows like ‘American Idol,’ ‘The Voice,’ and ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’ I love technology but I would rather stare at an Andy Warhol than a smartphone.

Great art brings society together. Great music makes people dance. Katy Perry defines greatness.

Diverse crowds patronize Katy Perry’s concerts. Perry’s ‘Prismatic World Tour’ symbolizes her vision and goals. The musician’s creating rainbows and spreading a message of charity, peace and hope.

The celebrity realizes she’s inspiring young people. That’s why Katy protects her portrayal in the media. You know Hugh Hefner and Playboy desperately desire famous brunettes.

Because Katy Perry isn’t a reluctant role model, the musician’s more popular than kings and queens. The superstar needs as much security as a presidential candidate. Katy will soon dye her hair blonde like her BFF Hillary Clinton. Remember, I predicted it first.

Moreover, who can reach more young people than the famous ‘Firework’ singer? Katy Perry updates her fans through social networks. That’s how she stays first among music lovers.

Name one music artist richer than Taylor Swift. She’ll be a billionaire by her 50^thbirthday. Many musicians idolize the ‘Blank Space’ songstress.

Like Katy, Taylor uses social media to interact with supporters. Swift’s infectious spirit inspires the youth to live out their dreams. Taylor’s swift success proves that Cinderella stories do exist.

Don’t fret over obstacles. Keep motivated and jump high hurdles. When there’s an opening, step out on faith, and maintain a steady pace.

Like Taylor you can tour the world too. You just need a passport and a dream. If you believe in yourself, the world will open up for you.

Do musicians serve a purpose? Should their songs make you feel good? Are they suppose to make you dance?

The legendary Marvin Gaye gave his blood, sweat, and tears to Motown. Gaye’s songs still spark imagination and inquiry. Music gave him a platform to deliver and spread his peace loving message.

Every man must discover his calling. There’s a plan in order for everyone. Find your love and passion. Then, pursue your destiny.

Marvin Gaye was destined for greatness. The legend’s music strongly influences society and popular culture. ‘What’s Going On?’ remains relevant because Gaye understood the meaning of struggle and progress. Isn’t he an inspiration?

Marvin Gaye composed soulful lyrics. That’s why his music is timeless. The man was larger than life.

Imitation is the best form of flattery. Robin Thicke flatters the great Marvin Gaye. Gaye’s family has actually sued Thicke for copyright infringement. Thicke stole Marvin’s music, moves and mannerisms.

Also, Usher credits Marvin Gaye. And if you listen to Beyoncé’s ballads more closely, you’ll hear an element of Marvin. From John Legend to John Mayer, music artists pay homage to his mastery.

Gaye’s smooth style and calm demeanor were natural. The charming musician created classics. Music lovers cherish the beloved musician’s albums.

It is virtually impossible to watch a season of ‘American Idol’ or ‘The Voice’ without hearing a Marvin Gaye rendition. The entertainer went beyond the scope of music. He was a heavyweight.

Late at night, I might play ‘Sexual Healing’ or ‘Let’s Get It On.’ When I’m ready to see other people, I spin my ‘Heard it Through the Grapevine’ record. Of course I keep his duets with Tammi Terrell spinning in my head. You see Marvin Gaye was not a one hit wonder. Marvin Gaye was the Eighth World Wonder.

There wasn’t a mountain high enough, a valley low enough, or a river wide enough to keep him from fulfilling his purpose driven life.

Robin Thicke Vs. Adam Levine

I’ve followed Robin Thicke since the Jurassic period. He started his career off with a big bang. Although ‘A Beautiful World’ didn’t go platinum, true fans appreciate real artistry.

Fortunately, The Evolution of Robin Thicke did go platinum. Before the best selling Blurred Lines, Robin experienced a rise and dawn like Caesar from the Planet of the Apes. Lost Without U is clearly one of Thicke’s best songs.

The musician has a long history of hits. If Sex Therapy: The Session is a double than the Blurred Lines album is a walk-off homerun. How can you beat 350 million plus YouTube views? Thicke shows why he’s a terrific singer.

There’s a reason Adam Levine is a judge on The Voice. The Maroon 5 bandleader is crafty like a magician. He has a lengthy vocal range.

I like listening to Moves Like Jagger when playing chess. Also, Adam Levine’s guitar skills are underrated. And his creativity is often mindboggling.

I respect Adam Levine for not abandoning his band for greener pastures. Nowadays, loyalty and trust are rare assets. Adam Levine is a good friend who values brotherhood.

Adam defines greatness with his dynamic abilities. With that said, I’d rather perform onstage with Levine. However, I’d choose to record with Robin Thicke.

Both music artists have similar styles and talents. The main difference is Robin’s a solo act. I’m not knocking Thicke for going at it alone.

I just feel the more the merrier.

As a side note, Robin toured with Maroon 5 in 2013. So, this comparison is not far-fetched. If I had to choose, I’d go with Robin over Adam.

Levine still lives in Maroon 5’s shadow.

You better not get caught sneaking a Cuban cigar into the Florida Everglades. That’s a big no-no. Your best bet is to go to Denver or Seattle and puff, puff and puff away.

Don’t be like Dennis Rodman and import luxury goods into North Korea. That’s a big red flag for the TSA. I’m quite sure they gave Rebounding Rodman a full body cavity search.

You can become super rich by running a legitimate import/export business. Familiarize yourself with International Law & Order and you’ll be a millionaire in no time. If you want to be a billionaire, try importing and exporting Television shows.

Did you know the Law & Order TV show was exported to the United Kingdom? Or that Shark Tank was imported from Japan? Or that Married with Children was exported to Argentina?

Turn on your TV. Change the channel. Do a little channel surfing this spring.

Isn’t television great? If you missed your favorite show, ten times out of ten the episode will be repeated. Do you know people who watch the same show and same episode over and over again?

Oh, am I describing you or “your best friend” (wink, wink)? There’s no shame in loving TV. There’s something on TV for everyone to enjoy.

You have your pick of the litter. If you want to watch a show about cats, you can change to the Animal Planet channel.

If you want to literally see someone surfing this spring, there is a network for you.

Have you ever wanted to walk in someone else’s boots? Why not watch Swamp People? Swamp People is the latest reality show sensation.

Stay up-to-date. TV is changing by the second. Another channel is being created as I write.

One of my personal favorites is HBO’s BoardWalk Empire. OMG, Boardwalk Empire is an experience that takes you back in time. It’s a shame the TV executives are canceling the show in the fifth season.

I have an idea. Why don’t we start a petition for Boardwalk Empire? I just hate to see the show end. There’s nothing else like the Empire.

But, I believe Boardwalk Empire must end because it is too expensive to produce. I will watch the reruns of Boardwalk though, as a way of coping with reality.

Reality is the problem. It seems everybody is addicted to reality shows now. Is this true?

I refuse to believe nobody wants to watch a well-written script and polished production. Maybe, the issue is finances.

It all comes down to money. You learn in Accounting that Net Income is the bottom line. The TV executives rather make reality shows because they are cheap.

As a result, TV enthusiasts are getting hoodwinked. If it’s reality you want, they’ll make sure you get plenty of it. I’m not talking about all reality shows. I am referring to the overwhelming vast majority of them.

Reality shows inevitably show you the hardships of life. That’s why I choose to watch sitcoms, TV dramas, and thrillers. I have my own problems, I don’t need to see Honey Boo-Boo’s trials and tribulations.

If we wanted a reality show, we could get one. Our reality show might help pay some of the bills. Maybe, reality shows aren’t so bad after all.

Okay, yes they are so bad! Seriously, it’s entertainment at the expense of sanity. Kim Kardashian and the K-clan have infected the minds of the youth.

Do we really want to send the message of “shopping until you drop” to our children. Think about it. Then, get back to me.

Kim Kardashian has more Twitter followers than the Dalai Lama and the Pope combined. You can’t make this stuff up.

I love good television but I dislike bad television with a passion. I don’t watch a lot of TV these days. If I’m lucky I watch an hour per day.

On Sunday, the Walking Dead aired the season finale. I didn’t watch it but I read all about it. It’s everywhere on the Internet. Chime in if you’re a fan…

I encourage you to chime in and get the discussion rolling. No matter what I say, TV is here forever. Even if we watch our favorite shows on our computers over the Internet, it is still television.

Reality shows are another component of TV that have changed the production business. Again, no matter what I write, for better or worst reality shows are here to stay. But, there is still hope for TV.
