How Johnny Depp Amazes Moviegoers of All Ages

BY: GURU JAY

Who’s cooler than Johnny Depp? The great celebrity creates characters through colorful theatrics. Johnny Depp virtually swaps places with Captain Jack, Edward Scissorhands, and the Mad Hatter. Who can forget his impressive portrayal of John Dillinger in Public Enemies?
Johnny Depp is one of my favorite celebrities because he is unorthodox. Essentially, the actor breaks rules only to make more. For the most part, Depp keeps quiet and stays out of the spotlight. Many celebrities run toward the light thinking there’s a way out of the tunnel. I call this unfortunate event- ‘tunnel vision.’
What’s worrying Johnny these days? Alice Through the Looking Glass and Dead Men Tell No Tales should break box office records. While people perceive Depp as a playboy/rebel, remember he makes family friendly movies as well.

I believe the celebrity has maximized his persona. Plus, he’s one of the most versatile actors alive. The formula deriving Johnny Depp is a combination of Sean Penn and Brad Pitt.
Furthermore, comparing Johnny Depp to Marlon Brando is unlike comparing oranges to apples. Did you know Brando advocated for Native American rights in Hollywood? Did you also know Johnny Depp is an honorary Comanche?
Depp’s claim of Native American ancestry caused controversy among a number of American Indian communities. Fortunately, Johnny understands shifting dynamics. And so, the actor is in the minority at times.
Plus, he understands the process and usually puts his best foot forward. Hospitality workers know that accommodating celebrities can be challenging. Although Depp distances himself from Hollywood’s formalities, he is their best representation because of his generosity.

In addition, when studios need a lifeline, they call Johnny Depp. Everyone realizes how Disney banks on Depp’s talents. What’s Pirates of the Caribbean without Johnny? That’s why Depp demands respect in the dressing room and on the set.
Even a Baby Boomer would agree Depp is more famous than Johnny Carson.
What are your favorite Johnny Depp movies?

What Rihanna and Lady Gaga Can Teach Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande

BY: GURU JAY

Rihanna and Lady Gaga rank high on the music hierarchy.
Lately, Rihanna has made the news because of her supposed relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio. I thought for the longest that Bad Girl Riri and Bad Meets Evil Eminem were an item. However, you must remember show business is a highly calculative industry.
By some accounts, Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber appear to be dating much to the chagrin of Big Sean. I don’t gossip because the lawyer in me doesn’t trust hearsay. So, I’ll leave Rihanna’s love life alone.
I first learned about Rihanna during a phone call with this stunning blue-eyed girl. I know Generation Z can’t imagine using a cell phone to talk because they only know how to text. Anyway, the girl ranted and raved so much, I Googled Rihanna for the first time.
Many years since, I came to relish Riri’s music. What is more, we all recognize Riri as a first class entertainer comparable to the greats. If the Barbados superstar continues dominating then she’ll have a similar commercial effect as legendary Jamaican musician Bob Marley.

In the beginning, the media gave Lady Gaga excessive coverage. I’m not just talking about entertainment and celebrity news here. Local, national, and global stations constantly ran stories and shined the limelight on the lady.
They gave Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and Ariana Grande similar attention. And now it is One Direction’s turn. Although the news isn’t writing stories about Lady Gaga, her fans stay engaged as evidence by social media.
You know I value Gaga a lot. She’s a wonderful singer. But, sometimes I dislike her tacky costumes and turquoise hair color.

Regardless of your preferences, Lady Gaga’s game works wonders. You know Gaga doesn’t bluff because she sports a Poker Face. Plus, the shock factor showcases her bravado.

Have you seen the musicians’ concert performances? Your eyes are busy bodied because of all the activity and friction. Picture how fun it is promoting their tours.

Lady Gaga and Rihanna are fun spirited girls, who crave intense feelings. Gaga sings with pure energy. And Riri sings with raw emotion.
You couldn’t pick a better time to be a celebrity than right now. Yes, you sacrifice privacy but who cares? If you’re talented as Lady Gaga and Rihanna you’re set for life.
Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande can learn how to handle fame from Riri and Gaga. More Disney and Nickelodeon kids need to stop wasting their time living destructive lifestyles. As my grandpa said, “moderation is key.”
Like Lindsay Lohan, Shia LaBeouf, and Amanda Bynes, Miley and Ariana are stuck with the ‘child star’ label. There’s no curse because Justin Timberlake turned out fine. Still, Rihanna and Lady Gaga can teach Cyrus and Grande a different perspective because they didn’t grow up playing TV characters.

In this Information/ Digital Age, celebrities need less scrutiny and more support. Think about how every action/ word is analyzed because technology makes it easily presentable. Rihanna and Lady Gaga are teachers because they provide another avenue for Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, and others.

The 90s Movies and TV

BY: GURU JAY

Movies

The first movie I remember watching is Who Framed Roger Rabbit. That was in the late eighties.
I was a toddler when the studios released the classic funny bunny movie. The film came on TV all of the time. So, as a child I learned Roger Rabbit’s lines verbatim.
If you were alive in the 1980’s, I don’t have to tell you those were tough times. There was a stock market crash in 1987. I had a college teacher who lost $50,000 during the free fall. Fortunately, I was born in the 1980s and raised in the 1990s.
Enter the 90s. The 90s were a prosperous time in American History. The 1990s were a lot like the 1920s.
The 90s were animated. Animation equals domination. I can’t forget about the Lion King or Toy Story. Disney films made a major impact in movie history.
Here are a few good movies from the 90s: Titanic, Who’s Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, and Forrest Gump. In the words of the family guy Archie Man, “those were the days.”

TV
Don’t get me started on 90’s TV shows. This was the best time to be a kid. We had enough cartoons to sink a battleship.
I used to watch Saved By the Bell and Power Rangersbefore going to school. I’d come home and watch Full House. Who remembers when Boy Meets World aired on T.G.I.F.? Who knows the Step By Step theme song word for word?
Expect more remakes and reruns from the 1990s.

Do You Like Science Fiction And Fantasy?

Let’s go on an adventure. First, I’ll take you to the moon. Then, we’ll tour our solar system. Let’s hope we don’t get lost in a black hole. Worst-case scenario, we’ll end up in a perpendicular world inside a parallel universe.

Close your eyes and imagine. This is your time. So, take it. Soar above the stars and glide next to the cosmos. Launch into space and collect some stardust.

Along the journey, take a few pictures and put them on  [Pinterest], [Twitter] and [Instagram]. Our trip is sponsored by: NASA, Albert Einstein, and John Lennon.

Watch out for the asteroids. Because there’s so much out there in space, it’s easy to get spaced-out. Outer space is like the Wild West multiplied by a trillion. Be prepared for a bumpy ride. It’s the best rollercoaster ride of all time.

When you awaken let’s get back down to earth. Who doesn’t love to fantasize? Albert Einstein said imagination is more important than knowledge. John Lennon’s [Imagine] is a timeless classic, because imagination never gets old.

Have you ever dreamed of [time travel]? There are so many good movies about time travel.  [Back to the Future series] and [Time Cop] are my favorites. I haven’t seen [The Time Traveler’s Wife], but critics love it.

Would you like to know what is to come? [Gattaca], [In Time], and [Equilibrium] take you on a quest. Each has a unique depiction of the future. However, their perspectives are the same. In essence, in these films society is overtaken by technology.

Steve Jobs used technology as a means to increase the quality of life for millions upon millions. I believe in the notion proposed by Walt Disney “If you can dream it, you can do it. Jobs, the founder of Pixar saw the big picture and dreamed.

Steve Jobs changed history by dreaming up [Pixar], the [iPhone], and [Ipad]. His product lines will live forever. He made many everlasting footprints in our universe.
