X-Men Apocalypse Movie Review SPOILER ALERT

BY: GURU JAY

Apocalypse awakens from a deep sleep ready to usher into the world a new age. However, Professor X, Mystique, and their X-Men will fight for the good of humanity and themselves. Apocalypse handpicks 4 mutants to take over and rule the world.

I give the X-Men: Apocalypse movie 4 stars. That’s 1 star for every horseman (as advertised). The movie lives up to the buildup. Plus the new characters make a grand entrance. It’s funny seeing how Cyclops can’t control his powers and inadvertently destroys Professor X’s grandfather tree. This film receives high marks on the plot and screenwriting.
SPOILER ALERT
My favorite part had to be Hugh Jackman’s exit as Wolverine. How do you replace someone that great? Maybe, you don’t.
Moreover, the new Storm did a good job replacing Halle Berry. Give her time and she’ll become a big star. Hollywood should have more actresses like this. Give a nod to Phoenix too. She delivered more than expected as well.
Apocalypse was the very first mutant in the comic book. The scenes in this movie are like a comic book come alive. Comic book collectors can sit down with amateurs and enjoy this movie together.
There are a lot of conflicts within conflicts. Will Maury tell Magneto “You are the father,” about Quicksilver? Can Professor X get Apocalypse out of his head?
X-Men Apocalypse fathoms the idea of the world ending. Apocalypse attempts to rule the planet by absorbing every power. Hence, he disarms all nations of their nuclear weapons. Then, with the unwilling help of Professor X, he’s able to control every person.
While under mind control his words become orders obeyed by all. The only one who can really disobey is Professor X, because his power supersedes even Apocalypse’s own, he just doesn’t know it yet.
Overall, I love X-Men:Apocalypse. I might go see it a second and third time. It’s deserving of a B+ grade. They always set the bar high, do they?

Russell Crowe Vs. Hugh Jackman: Who is the Best Australian/New Zealand Actor?

BY: GURU JAY

Forget accent reduction class, come study at GuruJayEntertainment.com and learn how to adopt an accent. Plus, I can teach you how to ‘Dougie.’ In America, it’s true chicks and dudes go bananas when they hear English and Australian accents.
You’ve seen those extremely effective Orbit Gum commercials. The hot blonde sounds like Londoner Mary Poppins. New Yorkers know Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman can walk into any NYC nightclub right now, and quickly become the life of the party.
Australian/New Zealand actors such as Chris Hemsworth and Margot Robbie are privileged. Young people need to learn communication skills. Moreover, it’s true that it isn’t what you say that matters, but how you say it.

Russell Crowe

I enjoy watching the New Zealander do work on the silver screen. If you want to watch a masterful performance, 10 times out of 10 Crowe delivers. Plus, the movie star talks the talk and walks the walk.

Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind, American Gangster… I can go on and on about his movies. What is more, the actor routinely generates Oscar buzz, because he’s busy as a bumblebee during summertime. Ladybugs never nag him because they love his graces.
Hugh Jackman

Actresses boisterously applaud the Australian actor because they believe he’s simply beautiful. It will be a sad day when his Wolverine character retires from X-Men. The bar is set very high for his replacement.
Check out my X-Men Days of Future Past (best movie I’ve seen) review. You’ll also appreciate Australia starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. Have you seen Van Helsing, Real Steel, and Prisoners?
I recommend watching Les Misérables, which stars both Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe. Without question, Jackman and Crowe are the crème de la crème. It’s a close contest and a great comparison.

Overall, I believe Russell Crowe is more versatile. However, in my mind, Hugh Jackman is the best actor because he’s unbreakable. What do you think?

Best Halle Berry Movies

BY: GURU JAY

Before striking riches and getting famous, Halle Berry competed in beauty pageants. Like Vanessa Williams, Halle Berry made her mark the old fashioned way. Through the years, the auditioning process was hectic for Halle. Still, the movie star persevered.
Credit Spike Lee for giving the celebrity her start. Born in Cleveland, Halle is well recognized around the world as the face of Revlon. She is also a perky personality with enormous talents.
True fans love Halle Berry in Introducing Dorothy Dandridge and Their Eyes Were Watching God. These two motion pictures highlight Halle Berry’s vulnerabilities. Also, who can forget Berry’s breakthrough performance in Losing Isaiah? Fortunately, Halle Berry has been in umpteen blockbusters including the X-men franchise.
The Perfect Stranger actress is no stranger to box office records. According to Box Office Mojo, Halle Berry’s lifetime movie ticket sales top $1.85 billion. Furthermore, the former Bond girl gained even more attention from her Swordfish role.

A true thespian at heart, Halle took paycuts along the way for art’s sake. For instance, Halle earned a pittance from Things We Lost in the Fire and Frankie & Alice. As a result, she has gained an elevated status. And she is well respected in Hollywood squares and among show business circles.

At the 2002 Oscars, Halle was the first African American woman to win Best Lead Actress. The Academy appreciated Halle Berry in Monster’s Ball because of its realness. If Halle Berry was the Yin, then Billy Bob Thornton was the Yang.
As preparation for this blog, I watched Berry’s Inside the Actors Studio. I learned that Halle’s career would have never happened without her mother’s loving support. Halle tells at length about her journey but never makes excuses.
It’s a joy looking back at Berry’s best films. Overtime she’s developed into a great actress. What are your favorite Halle Berry movies?

Review of X-Men: Days of Future Past SPOILER ALERT

Review of X-Men: Days of Future Past SPOILER ALERT

X-Men: Days of Future Past is a masterpiece. Go see it. You will love it!

Hugh Jackman takes over as Wolverine. Jennifer Lawrence shines ‘bright like a diamond’ as Mystique. And, James McAvoy steals the show as Professor Xavier.

All in all, the cast is a great ensemble. Michael Fassbender makes his mark as Magneto. And, Evan Peters makes us chuckle with his interpretation of Quicksilver.

You’ll laugh. Maybe, you’ll cry. And, you’ll have fun.

It’s a good family movie. It’s well written. It’s unforgettable.

The beginning of X-Men is like a video game. I call X-Men the video game movie. If you’re a gamer or a comic book collector, this is a must-see.

The X-Men comic strip is all about teamwork. It’s not X-Man. It’s X-Men.

I watch movies with an eagle eye. Not a bird’s eye…not a hawk eye…but an eagle eye. From start to finish, the video game movie is brilliant.

I’m not exaggerating. It is almost perfect. I would have written it a little differently though.

There are some great lines in the film. However, some things could have been said better. The screenwriter should be more concise.

I take my hat off to director Simon Kinberg. I feel he is doing the X-Men franchise justice. I don’t have any complaints.

What is X-Men, really?

There is more to it than meets the eye. Yes, X-Men is a comic strip with a political statement. Yes, X-Men is a movie with an important message.

X-Men are mutants. They are classified as nonhuman. Yet, they are more humane than humans.

You can define them as gifted, supernatural, or a danger. In actuality, they represent a challenge to the status quo. The message is: it’s okay to be different.

Hugh Jackman

As a boy, I grew up loving Wolverine. When I was around eight years old, my sister got me a Wolverine action figure for my birthday. I played the mess out of that toy.

I identify with the Wolverine character. Like me, Wolverine is tough as nails. ‘What doesn’t kill me, makes me stronger.’

Hugh Jackman is the embodiment of toughness. I remember the first X-Men movie. I said to myself, man that guy Wolverine won’t back down from anything.

Hugh brings Wolverine to life. He is to X-Menwhat Pierce Brosnan was to James Bond. Replacing Jackman is a difficult task.

Jennifer Lawrence

Last year Jennifer Lawrence was the 2nd highest paid actress behind Angelina Jolie. This year I think she’s number 1. We’ll have to wait and see.

Like her character Mystique, Jennifer Lawrence is virtually unstoppable. You can get in her head all you want (Professor Xavier), but she is determined to stop Bolivar Trask by all means. X-Men allowed Jennifer to demonstrate her superpowers on the silver screen.

You’ll love Jennifer Lawrence after seeing this movie. She takes on the hardest role and plays it easily. She is my de-facto choice for best leading actress.

James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart

Teamwork takes synergy. James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart both play Professor Xavier. I think that their synergy is damn near perfect.

Give credit to the casting department here. They found the right man for the job. The actors complement each other.

McAvoy is the past and Stewart is the future. Wolverine travels back to the 1970’s to find the X-Men crew. He has to convince Professor Xavier and the others to join forces.

Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen

Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen are the antagonists. They play Magneto. The moral of Magneto is, we are our own worst enemies.

Michael and Ian are in perfect harmony. It’s rare to see two movie stars in sync. They have you guessing the whole time.

This character is unpredictable. He keeps you in suspense. You don’t know what to expect from him.

The Plot Thickens

Magneto is imprisoned at the Pentagon for killing JFK. Wolverine and the X-Men plot to break him out. It doesn’t go smoothly.

At one point, they are trapped. The fun starts here. You’ll have to see it for yourself.

This scene is a work of art. The spotlight shines on Evan Peters. Quicksilver uses his abilities to the core. This is the highlight of the movie.

Time is the underlying theme. While Wolverine travels back in time, the X-Men are on edge. He’s the last hope.

The world has been tormented by war. Peace is not anywhere in sight. But, where there’s a will there’s a way.

X-Men is the best! “I’ll try my best. Your Best is enough.” That’s one of my favorite lines from the film.

Go see X-Men if you want an action-packed and futuristic motion picture. It takes cinema to the next level. The plot thickens.

X-Men: The Video Game Movie

I vouch for X-Men. It’s in a class of its own. The stars gave 110 percent.

My only issue with the acting is Ellen Page. I understand why they chose her. But, I feel she overacted.

Don’t get me wrong, I like her. However, I would have selected someone like Emma Stone. That’s my opinion. Take it for what it’s worth.

Have you seen any other X-Men films? I liked X-Men First Class. Click here for more information about the whole franchise. I look forward to a video game.

The film is visually pleasing. If you’re hard to please, you’ll love this because the producers make it look easy. It’s the best movie that’s now playing.

I give X-Men: Days of Future Past 5 stars. It is the best. You are the best. Thank you for reading and sharing. I appreciate your comments and questions.
