Beyonce and Jay Z Make a Masterpiece

Beyonce and Jay Z are dominating the headlines. Moments ago, the power couple released a brand new joint album while on their worldwide tour in London. Follow the hashtags #BeyonceandJayZ and #GuruJay for more on Twitter. If you have been living under a rock and you don’t know who Beyonce and Jay Z are, allow me to reintroduce them. 10/10 times you know who Beyonce and Jay Z are; and if you don’t know them by now you aren’t ever going to know them.

The Houston homegirl was the former Destiny’s Child lead singer. She came a long way since the Destiny’s day. Now, she is better known as Queen Bey, queen bee of the Beyhive.

Ever since Song Cry, I’ve been listening to Jay Z. “I can’t see it coming down my eyes, so I gotta let the song cry…” Those Jay Z’s lyrics right there are powerful.

Beyonce and Jay Z make some of their best music together. They are the reincarnation of Bonnie and Clyde. If Bonnie could sing/dance/entertain and Clyde was a master on the microphone, then Beyonce and Jay Z are the true power couple.

What is your favorite Beyonce and Jay Z song? Bonnie and Clyde, Upgrade U, Crazy In Love, and Drunk in Love are some of their best work because they emphasis the passion they have for each other and their music. Beyonce and Jay Z are the perfect combination on and off the stage.

I can’t wait to listen to their new album entitled “Everything Is Love.” There are nine singles I know about on the album: Summer, Apeshit, Boss, Nice, 713, Friends, Heard About Us, Black Effect, and LoveHappy. I expect greatness from each one. Like the album cover featuring Mona Lisa suggests, Beyonce and Jay Z may have very well made a masterpiece.

What’s Playing? Coming Soon: Absolute Must-See Summer Fun Movies + Trailers

“Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate” Sonnet 18
By: William Shakespeare

This summer the box office is bigger and better than ever. I can hardly wait to go to the movies. Records will be shattered.

There are so many options. You can choose from a comedy, romance, action, suspense or drama. Let me guide you.

Just because a film has a 9 figured budget, it doesn’t mean it’s worth watching. You must be highly selective in order to reach the Guru level. Remember to watch the movie; don’t let the movie watch you.

Are you ready? Let’s have some fun. Here are my recommendations.

What’s Playing?

Edge of Tomorrow

Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise is now playing. The movie has an interesting concept. “Live. Die. Repeat.”

Emily Blunt is the lead actress in the movie. She is shaping up to become a top science fiction/ fantasy actress. Who could forget her brilliant performance alongside Matt Damon in The Adjustment Bureau

What is more, Tom Cruise is the default science fiction movie star. His body of work is unbelievable. I will always remember Mission: Impossible III

Cruise and the late great Phillip Seymour Hoffmanshined brightly on the silver screen together. It was impossible to find two bigger and better actors.

Go see Edge of Tomorrow today. Click play to watch the trailer.

Lucy

I highly recommend Lucy starring Scarlett Johansson. Here’s why. Scarlett is at the peak of her career. She has so much to prove.

Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lawrence are very competitive. The question is whom will Angelina Jolie crown? Right now, Jennifer is princess Leia; and, she is narrowly winning the Star Wars.

Lucy hits theaters July 25. My only problem with the movie is that I would have liked to see an earlier release. Any film of high caliber should premiere on a holiday. Also, expect Morgan Freeman to act like a demigod.

Click play to watch the trailer.

22 Jump Street

The sequel to 21 Jump Street is coming to theaters June 13. It makes my list because everyone needs a double dose of comedy. Laughter is the best medicine and comedy is the pharmacy.

Normally sequels are not as good as the originals. But, I believe 22 Jump Street is an exception to the rule. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are only getting better.

If you want a crazy fun summer flick, then 22 Jump Street is an absolute must-see movie. It’s good to laugh a little. So go see it when you have the chance.

Dawn of The Planet of The Apes

I am excited about Dawn. I enjoyed Rise. The storyline is terrific.

In addition, Andy Serkis reprises his role as Caesar. Andy does an awesome job capturing the essence of his character. I only expect the best from the whole cast.

Matt Reeves is the new director taking the place of Rupert Wyatt. Changing directors was a good move. You need new blood sometimes.

Dawn debuts on July 11.

Think Like A Man Too

Think Like A Man Too is Steve Harvey’s brainchild and Kevin Hart’sbaby. Kevin Hart brings it every time. If you like to giggle, this is your movie.

Take a break from science fiction and action. Go see a comedy like Think Like A Man Too.Again, the sequel will be bigger than the original. And, this is rare.

You’ll enjoy this romantic comedy. The release date is June 20. Start your summer off rolling over laughing out loud.

Transformers: Age of Extinction

On June 20, Transformers: Age of Extinction starring Mark Wahlberg will debut. The young and talented Nicola Peltz will costar. Additionally, Michael Bay returns as director.

The Transformers series says bye-bye to Shia LaBeouf (who’s no longer famous). It’s seems Shia’s attention grabbing stunt backfired. Hopefully, he learned his lesson.

Age of Extinction is an absolute must-see movie because it appeals to the masses. Everyone can appreciate this motion picture. You don’t have to be a comic book collector or gamer in order to appreciate this franchise.

Transformers is bigger and better than ever. The estimated budget is $165 million. It wouldn’t surprise me if the movie grosses over $1 billion.

Mark Wahlberg is a bigger and better name than Shia LaBeouf. The girls think he looks handsomer. And, I think Mark is more polished as an actor than Shia.

Get On Up

On August 1, Get On Up starring Chadwick Boseman as James Brown, hits theaters. Chadwick, who is best known for his portrayal of Jackie Robinson in the movie 42, is very talented. Boseman is a bright Hollywood star.

Taking on James Brown is not an easy feat. The James Brown story is filled with complexities and controversies. But, Chadwick can handle the pressure.

I look forward to Get On Up because James Brown meant the world to so many. It looks like a lot of fun. I might write a review of this biopic.

How To Train Your Dragon 2

Consider seeing How to Train Your Dragon 2 with your children. This is an absolute must-see family friendly film. Why you’re at it, why not buy the book?

I predict the How To Train sequel will make more than $500 million at the box office. DreamWorks Animation and 20th century Fox are a great team. Furthermore, anything associated with Steven Spielberg is successful.

This is a special summer. The movie critics will have a ton of fun. Moviegoers will get treated to premium entertainment.

As you know, I love writing and movies. So I am in heaven right now as I write about films. I hope to present to you a new, different, and unique perspective.

Begin Again: Music + Movies = Success

BY: GURU JAY
Begin Again

Music + Movies= Success. This summer Begin Again debuts in theaters. The film starring Keira Knightley is highly anticipated. Critics have already chopped up Begin Again.

Overall, the reviews are looking good. For starters, we have a hot cast. It’s an incredible ensemble of actors, musicians, and singers.

The soundtrack is important to a movie’s success. I recently watched She’s Having a Baby for the 4thtime. If you have seen it, you realized the power of the ending scene. This Woman’s Work is brilliantly placed on the She’s Having a Baby soundtrack.

You see the soundtrack can change a movie from dull to good. The best films have a well-written script and a wonderful soundtrack. Begin Again is a movie with all the right pieces. Enjoy the trailer.

The cast has a tasty mixture of talent and direction. For the record, Begin Again was released for the first time at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival. The movie has been out of production for a while.

But, you’ll find that the best movies make you wait. Begin Again does a fine job building up anticipation. I strongly believe the film will fair very well at the box office.

In my last post Action Heroes and Zeroes, I explained how marketing may catapult or kill a movie’s chances. Begin Again is a success story.

The film is said to have a sensational soundtrack set to summer in New York City. It is scheduled to premier in the United States on July 4, 2014. The movie trailer has already been given tons of shares, likes and view on YouTube.

I’m interested in Canadians who have seen Begin Again. What did you like about it? Wasn’t the soundtrack sweet?

Does it live up to the hype? Judging by the reviews and information I’ve been given, the move is going to sell out on Independence Day. Can’t wait.

Keira Knightley

Look into Keira Knightley’s eyes. Are you mesmerized? The British beauty is due for an Academy Award. Don’t be surprise if you hear her name in the news.

Knightley came close to winning the Best Actress statue in 2005 for her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride & Prejudice. She was too young to win at that time.

I have a background in Government. I can tell you there is politics in everything. The Academy Awards are no exception.

I gave you a breakdown of Hollywood politics in my post of the Top 10 Actresses. Did you know actresses make less money after winning an Oscar? What is more, actors make more money after they win.

Hollywood has the strangest politics in the world. Knightley may not want an Oscar for these reasons, but she’ll get one and I tell you why.

She is becoming too expensive. She’s reaching the mature age of thirty. So the movie industry cannot trick her into taking less. She knows her worth.

Mark my words: she will win an Oscar within 3 years. Remember where you heard it first. Hey, Hollywood is not all fun and games. It’s a big business.

Mark Ruffalo

Mark Ruffalo costars in the film. He is most famous for playing The Hulk in the Avengers. He is a nice addition to the cast.

The great actor has been acting since 1989. He’s seasoned, humble, and talented. He has all the right ingredients.

He’s not going to try to steal the show. We need more actors like Ruffalo. He can a drive a movie to box office success. And, he doesn’t mind taking a backseat.

I believe he is one of the most respected actors in the business. No one ever has a bad word to say about him. He shows up, does his job and goes home.

Hailee Steinfield

Hailee Steinfield is a rising star. She brings the most youth to the silver screen. She is famous for her portrayal of Mattie Ross in True Grit.

She has a lot of potential in show business. The casting director deserves a $20,000 bonus; because the three main characters represent 3 different generations.

Adam Levine

I can’t wait to see what Adam Levine from Maroon 5 brings to the table. He’s a superb singer and not a shabby actor either. It will be interested to see what role he plays.

For all we know, Levine could be like Justin Timberlake. Who can forget Timberlake’s performances in the Social Network and In Time? Levine adds a flavorful ingredient to the mix.
Cee Lo Green

Cee Lo Green is underrated as a singer. I remember when he lost his mind! In college, I first heard the Gnarls Barkley Crazy song.

If you haven’t already heard, then listen to Crazy on YouTube. The Crazy song and You’re Beautiful owned the 2005-2006 music season. It will be fun to see the former artist from Gnarls Barkley on the silver screen.

Music + Movies = Success

As an Accountant I deal with the equation Assets= Liabilities + Owner’s Equity on a daily basis. You learn this equation in your Accounting 101 class.

Later on in your accounting courses, you deal with more sophisticated formulas. If you’re a STEM major, more power to you.

If you’re a music or theatre major, I envy you. If there’s one thing I learn in life it is to follow your dreams. No matter what, stay focused.

Don’t forget the equation I introduced to you in the beginning. Music + Movies= Success. It’s a proven fact that soundtracks play an important role in the scheme of things.

This summer the Begin Again movie is sure to please. Don’t only mark my words, mark your calendars. The film debuts on July 4.

Expect fireworks and a roller coaster ride. You don’t have to go to Disney World or Six Flags. Take your family and friends to see Begin Again.
