What Are the Best Samuel L. Jackson Movies?

BY: GURU JAY

How do I rank the best Samuel L. Jackson movies? Do we solely look at the numbers? Or do we look at something more intangible such as: the critical acclaim and artistic value? This article analyzes the best Samuel L. Jackson movies from a holistic perspective. While I take numbers in account, I also look at the quality of his film performances.

I begin with Unbreakable. Unbreakable is arguably the second-best Samuel L. Jackson movie for its broad reach and fanfare. The movie generated $248 million at the box office. Samuel L. Jackson plays Elijah Price perfectly. Plus, this character is one of Samuel L. Jackson’s most challenging roles because of the dynamic range.

Released 19 years ago, Jackson will star in a sequel called Glass. Glass is next on my list. I feel this film has the potential to be number 1 at the box office. Jackson works well with Bruce Willis. Also, James McAvoy was phenomenal in Split.

A Time to Kill starring Matthew McConaughey ranks high on my list because the film is thought-provoking. Moreover, the plot falls apart without Samuel L. Jackson. The Hollywood star is integral to the movie’s success.

Next, let’s look at The Negotiator. In this film, Jackson plays a hostage negotiator, who is the best in the business. Ironically, Samuel L. Jackson is an actor, who is the best in show business. I highly recommend watching the Negotiator because the movie showcases Samuel’s versatility.

Kingsman: The Secret Service is fifth on my list.
Samuel L. Jackson is a major reason the movie made $414.4 million at the box office. Watch Kingsman, if you want a thrilling action-packed suspenseful film. It was Samuel L. Jackson’s idea for his character to talk with a lisp. From an artistic standpoint, Kingsman is perhaps his best movie.

The Samaritan makes my list because it is all about Samuel L. Jackson. The movie is told from his vantage point. Therefore, you can see the full range and essence of the great movie star.

Although it was produced 22 years ago in 1997, One Eight Seven is like The Samaritan. It makes my list for the same reasons. You really get all of Samuel L. Jackson. Plus, you can’t deny the importance of his presence and his dynamic acting abilities.

Hollywood is a numbers game. So, it makes sense that The Hateful Eight is next on my list. This film grossed approximately $155 million in theaters. The blockbuster showcases Samuel L. Jackson’s amazing talent. Set in 1877, Jackson’s character is central to the motion picture. There is a reason why this Hollywood star is handpicked for roles in Quentin Tarantino movies.

Rules of Engagement starring Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson features both actors’ best work. The movie is about ethical dilemmas; and it answers critical questions concerning war and peace. Rules of Engagement was a box office success, domestically and globally. The worldwide film is translated in English, Arabic, and Vietnamese.

Changing Lanes is another great movie. It defines high quality. Ben Affleck and Jackson are a dynamic duo. Additionally, I highly recommend watching this film for its compelling script and exceptional acting. I believe the celebrity was at his peak while filming Changing Lanes.

I end with Pulp Fiction. Pulp Fiction is perhaps the number 1 movie of all time. Critically, it is a top ten movie on the average critic’s best movie list. Thus, Pulp Fiction is the best Samuel L. Jackson movie. Without question, Jackson gives an unforgettable performance.

You’ll notice that Marvel movies are omitted from my list because Samuel L. Jackson isn’t the focal point of those movies. Still, I must give those movies an honorable mention because they are a significant portion of his career. Let me know in the comment section, what you feel are the best Samuel L. Jackson movies. These 11 movies are the best from my holistic perspective.

Samuel L. Jackson Vs. Laurence Fishburne

BY: GURU JAY

Is Samuel L. Jackson overrated? Is Laurence Fishburne underrated? In this article, I will underline their similarities and differences.
First, I don’t believe Jackson is overrated. You can’t deny that he is dependable. There’s a reason the actor ranks #1 at the box office all time grossing over $11 billion.
Samuel L. Jackson aka Nick Fury is The Negotiator too. Did you know the actor is an avid golfer? Give Jackson credit for his people skills. Plus, actors enjoy working with him.
Do you ever wonder what’s in Samuel L. Jackson’s wallet? According to the Richest, the celebrity’s net worth is $170 million. What is more, the hard worker earns every penny.
Now, Laurence Fishburne is underrated. We’re talking about Morpheus from The Matrix, here. He is a premium quality actor, who deserves an Oscar.

I feel Fishburne lost valuable roles to Denzel Washington through the years. While Tinsel Town is a town big enough for both of them, these CEOs love cutting corners. Hopefully, Hollywood reverses course before it’s too late.
Film students should study Fishburne. When it comes to drama, few actors can compare to his greatness. Although Samuel may have a farther driving range, Laurence’s acting range is one of the best in showbiz. Do you want proof? Check out What’s Love Got to Do with It, Akeelah and the Bee and Contagion.
Can you believe both actors launched their careers in 1972? The main difference is Laurence Fishburne received immediate acclaim. Thus, the actor played in more movies from the onset. In contrast, Samuel L. Jackson received more roles later on in his career.
I greatly admire Samuel L. Jackson and Laurence Fishburne because they continue teaching upcoming talents. Applaud Jackson for all of his amazing accomplishments. And give Fishburne recognition for Blackish.
These Old School actors offer an avenue for the New School. There’s nothing new under the sun, right? That’s why Hollywood remakes movies every decade. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to remake one-of-a-kind actors like Samuel L. Jackson and Laurence Fishburne.

Kingsman: The Secret Service Movie Review

BY: GURU JAY

Want to watch an action-packed movie? Go see Kingsman: The Secret Service. Now playing, Kingsman has already received international recognition.
You’ll enjoy interesting characters played by veteran actors Colin Firth, Michael Caine, and Samuel L. Jackson. Also, newcomers Taron Egerton and Sophie Cookson give noteworthy performances. The casting director selected a talented cast with a nice mixture of skills.
Colin Firth stars as Kingsman Harry, who bailouts Gary (Egerton). Gary’s father died while saving Harry’s life. So, Harry takes Gary under his wing out of respect; and, he grooms the lad.
Gary and the group of recruits undergo tough Kingsman training. They’re drowned. Tied to train tracks. And they jumped out of a jet.
The agency informs the recruits that there’s room for only one Kingsman. Unfortunately, Gary failed their last test. However, in a way he passed with flying colors in my book.
As agent Harry, Firth, makes you believe he is a killing machine. Harry will fight Tom and Dick anywhere and anytime. The film contains the most incredible fight scenes since Bourne Supremacy.
“ Something’s rotten in the state of Denmark.”
Samuel L. Jackson plays Richmond Valentine, a billionaire who concocts an evil notion to reduce world population. Valentine envisions a massacre where everybody kills one another.
Richmond Valentine’s right-hand woman Gazelle kicks ass similar to Edward Scissorhands in the barber seat. Gazelle uses her legs to lower ears. She is one of my favorites.
Harry pays the ultimate sacrifice while trying to stop Valentine. Now, Gary and the Kingsman Secret Service must save the world. Meanwhile, the Swedish Princess lies in Richmond’s prison.
Overall, I give the film 4 stars. Director Matthew Vaughn earns a B+. Give extra credit to the music and editing departments. The screenwriters composed an excellent script. Want to see Kingsman: The Secret Service?

Wannabe Famous

How many actors wish they had won an Oscar? Every actor dreams about accepting an Academy Award. Half of them have already prepared their speeches.

I’m not in show business but I have an Oscar speech ready if I ever decide to write a movie script. I have seriously thought about what I would say. I know many others have done the same as me.

Millions of young men fantasize about playing basketball in the NBA. Growing up, I used to practice shooting like Kobe Bryant, dribbling like Allen Iverson and dunking like Shaquille O’Neal.

Since I was a boy, I loved watching and playing basketball. When I was in eighth grade the Los Angeles Lakers were playing the Philadelphia 76ers. My two favorite players, Bryant and Iverson were going head-to-head.

Iverson would drive to the basket. And, Shaquille O’Neal would foul him hard. Iverson literally took a beating from Shaq in the 2001 NBA Finals. It’s one of the memories that have stuck with me.

I wanted to be famous. When we were young, becoming famous was a challenge. Nobody had a reality show yet. If you really wanted to be a celebrity, you only had a few options: actor, athlete, singer, and politician.

If you were born before 1990, your idea of fame is a lot different than the next generation. Right now, it’s so easy to get famous. All you have to do is make your content go viral.

If you absolutely want to be famous, you can. Give it a day and the whole world will know your name.

Tom Hanks, Al Pacino, and Russell Crowe have all won Oscars. They are identified in movie trailers as “Academy Award Winning Actors.” Why does winning an Oscar carry so much weight?

A better question to ask is why do actors want an Oscar so badly. And, the answer is simple. Actors are no different from you and me. By winning the Award their pay increases by 81 percent.

The Forbes article shows a thorough breakdown of the effects of winning an Oscar. Not only do actors benefit financially, they benefit socially. There are not many social functions an Oscar winning actress cannot attend.

It is important to remember that Los Angeles is a business district. Hollywood Boulevard is just like Wall Street. Movie executives share similar interests with Fortune 500 CEOS.

It’s all about the mean green machine. Cash is king. The Dollar is the kingmaker. The following actors are the highest grossing thespians on the silver screen.

As a side note, the list will update soon. Samuel L. Jackson’s rank has improved to number 1.
