Billboard Hot 200 Celebrities Chloe x Halle Columbia Records Do It Do It Remix Duos Entertainment Music Musicians Parkwood Entertainment R&B Singers Ungodly Hour

Chloe X Halle = Amazing Potential

Who are you listening to? Chloe X Halle is on my playlist. Originating out of Atlanta, Georgia, Chloe X Halle is an R&B duo recognized by none other than Beyonce. Did you know Chloe X Halle are real sisters? Chloe Bailey is 22 years old, and Halle Bailey is 20 years old. It is rare to see sisters perform side by side. You won’t find many music artists like them. Signing on the dotted line with Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records are major accomplishments.

I like the fact they write their own music and produce tracks because the money is in writing and producing. They’re bound to get royalties galore. If they can keep their heads on straight and stay out of trouble, the sky is the limit. You can assess their potential just by listening to them and watching their music videos. Have you heard the “Do It” remix yet?

Check out Ungodly Hour, their new album. The album was a successful second studio album for the two songstresses. The album quickly debuted number 16 on Billboard Hot 200 chart, selling 25,000 copies. They make Atlanta proud.

Chloe X Halle has amazing potential. As musicians, the sisters are highly creative and entertaining. They should be on everyone’s radar with a pulse for entertainment. If good music is your thing, then these are your girls. The entertainment industry needs more Chloe X Halles in the business.

I am listening to the duo and watching their careers unfold. It is beautiful the way that they’re maneuvering through the industry and manifesting their destiny. I like how they “Do It” in the remix. The entertainers not only make hits, but they also make boss moves. Their futures are bright. Who knows what is in store? Grammys? Malibu mansions, yachts, and expensive things? Chloe X Halle = Amazing Potential.

Post Malone Vs. Machine Gun Kelly: Who Has the Bigger Brand?

Branding is the business of a celebrity. As an entertainer, how you package yourself says a lot about your brand. Your name matters as much as what your name is attached to. Attachments are more than just email terms. Celebrities must take care about who they endorse. Pepsi and Coke aren’t the only brand names in town. Ask Dave Chappelle which one tastes better, and be prepared for a wild answer.

If you want to be a rapper, you’re in the right place. I will tell you how. Remember to read the fine print in your contracts, and don’t do anything stupid. Those are the first steps. Above all, be yourself, write your rhymes, produce some tracks, hop on stage, and put a ring on the next Beyonce. O.K., you don’t have to do everything I prescribed, but do find yourself. What is it that makes you different?

You should pay homage to Post Malone and Machine Gun Kelly. They made their money the right way. Let’s look at the two rappers’ star power. Don’t reinvent the wheel.

POST MALONE

I offered a clue with ‘don’t reinvent the wheel.’ Most rappers sing about cars. Rick Ross made the Aston Martin song and Maybach Music. This is a common theme in Hip Hop. There’s no way around it. You must rap about a set of wheels. Also, rap about girls. Beyonce and Alicia Keys couldn’t have said it any better: “put it in a love song.” WARNING: there’s a way to rap about cars and girls. If you do so, do it with purpose and meaning.

MACHINE GUN KELLY

Don’t forget where you came from. Embrace your roots. “Put on for your city.” Machine Gun Kelly, the Cleveland rapper, represents his city better than a politician. He is also romantically linked to Megan Fox. Celebrities must share their stories, so the entertainment industry isn’t null and void. Success follows a formula, but at the same time, entertainers must tweak the rules. Relax. That stiffness in your neck needs a massage.

Who has the bigger brand: Post Malone or Machine Gun Kelly?

Born in Syracuse, New York, Post Malone is a rare breed. His music crosses genres. He stays true to the art and does what sounds good. Isn’t life all about doing what feels good? He could be another Kid Rock. Did you see him at Diddy’s 50th birthday celebration? Post Malone’s music credits include hit after hit.

Machine Gun Kelly was born in Houston, Texas, but he has strong ties to Cleveland. Check out his song Till I Die. Kelly could be a lot of things; but, one thing he is not is a sucker. Both celebrities are cool, and that is what counts. Be cool! I’m not saying you have to get tattoos, but at least take risks.

To answer the question about “who has the bigger brand?” I must examine the facts and neglect my emotions. Right now, I estimate more people know who Post Malone is than Machine Gun Kelly. (Have you seen Spenser Confidential?) Shout out to Mark Wahlberg! However, Machine Gun Kelly’s hardcore image sells more records. At the end of the day, brand power is subjective, but some things can be counted. Give it 5 years, and we’ll know without a doubt who’s bigger. Right now, the slight edge goes to Post Malone.

2019 Grammys Countdown

2019 Grammys Countdown

BY: GURU JAY

Who is the best new artist? What is the song of the year? Who will win the album of the year? A day from now, the Grammys will provide answers to these questions and more. I will shine a spotlight on the music stars ahead of time. Also, I will give Grammy predictions.

The live Sunday show on CBS starting at 8 PM (E.S.T.) is hosted by the one and only Alicia Keys. I feel fans will get what they deserve. Once the red carpet rolls out, eyeballs will be glued to the TV screen. All eyes will be on Cardi B. What will she do? What won’t she do?

Wait and see, Cardi B’s performance will be the biggest story of the evening. I can see the Tweets coming in, already. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper aims to please. She is one of the hottest topics in the entertainment industry.

I predict Lady Gaga will have a moment. The star will shine. I expect Lady Gaga to win for A Star Is Born. Do the Grammys need to legitimize Lady Gaga? Does she need validation for the Oscars? It would shock me if Gaga doesn’t leave with a Grammy Sunday night.

Best new artist is a crowded field and close contest. Margo Price and Greta Van Fleet are great, but Dua Lipa should win. The “New Rules” songstress is a big deal. You could argue Chloe x Halle should win because of the Beyonce advantage. It is an interesting conversation.

While we’re having this discussion, we must remember Jorja Smith. The 21-year-old British singer is sensational. And Jorja has a bright future.

What about the crown jewel? Could Ella Mai win the song of the year? This London, England native is earning every one of her English Music Royalties. “Boo’d Up” is just as successful as “Bleeding Love.” I believe she is next in line behind Leona Lewis.

I won’t predict record of the year because it is the most complicated award for a host of reasons. I could write an entire article on this category alone. However, I will predict album of the year. The $100 Million Man Drake’s Scorpion should win the prestigious award.

More Predictions

Janelle Monae deserves long overdue recognition. I think best pop solo performance will surprise the viewing audience the most. Camila Cabello could win for “Havana” over Ariana Grande’s “God Is a Woman.”

I expect Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” to win best music video. And you can’t forget about H.E.R. and Beck. I feel The Carterswill win trophies too. Beyonce and Jay Z made a masterpiece this past year.

The Grammys countdown is underway. Are you excited? Will you watch the red carpet? What are your plans afterward? More music stories to come.

Is Your Entertainment Better Off Now Than It Was Four Years Ago?

BY: GURU JAY

Are the music and movies of the 1960s and 1970s better than today’s music and movies? In other words, is your entertainment better off now than it was four years ago? I agree with Bob Seger, today’s music ain’t got the same soul (and I like that old school rock and roll, too.) But if I’m being honest, today’s sound doesn’t compare with yesterday’s sound. It’s simple as that. However, I can’t say the same about movies, because movies go beyond sounds and into visuals.

It is undeniable that visual effects play a large role in making a movie superior. Music is limited to only one sense and that’s hearing. Movies appeal to your sight and sound.

Autotune and audio engineering can’t make up for inferior vocals. To me, music is about the quality and the voice of Michael Jackson can’t be duplicated. You can try to clone him all you want, but there will never be another Michael Jackson.

While the music has digressed, movies have undoubtedly progressed; and that’s for several reasons. Today’s music videos are like mini-movies. Music draws on the ideas of the movie business. Hollywood is a place where dreams come true.

Who would have thought all these remakes were possible? TV shows that once existed, are here again. They’re repackaged and Netflix plays  a large role in making these products superior.
Sometimes, I can’t stand these Netflix Originals because there are so many of them. But I most admit most of them are damn good.

It is no fault of the artists, but the music can’t get any better. They don’t make stars like they used to. But, you’ll find the movies will keep getting better until there’s a technological explosion. What’s new in the entertainment industry? Do you believe there’s nothing new under the sun?

Migos Vs. Wu Tang Clan

Migos Vs. Wu Tang Clan

Let’s discuss new school vs. old school. Migos Vs. Wu Tang Clan is an interesting comparison. The Migos belong to the new edition and the Wu Tang Clan are original gangsters.

Both groups have similarly creative names and make unique music. Migos is short for amigos- the Spanish word for friends. And clan means a group of closely knit and interrelated families.

Who doesn’t like listening to Migos? These Hip-Hop artists have been active since 2008, but not until recently has their music topped the charts. Migos, consisting of Takeoff, Quavo, and Offset, are commercially successful and relevant. Their songs have been showcased by Spotify, Apple Music, and more.

Who remembers their extremely popular iPhone commercial?
Migos are new school with an old school vibe. The Walk It Talk It music video generates good vibrations. Migos are modern-day Beach Boys if the surfer singers could rap.

Wu Tang Clan’s music was commercially successful and stays relevant. Google made the widely popular Shimmy song commercial a couple years ago. Moreover, C.R.E.A.M. (Cash Rules Everything Around Me) is Wu Tang Clan’s most famous song because money equates to success and relevancy. Still by no stretch of imagination- are they a one hit wonder.

Without question, Wu Tang Clan have made their mark on music history. Complex has complied a list of Wu Tang Clan’s 100 best songs. The rappers maintain a strong influence on a generation of music artists. Also, the band of brothers illustrate the importance of brotherhood.

Could you imagine a Migos and Wu Tang Clan collaboration? I’ve learned to not rule out anything. Plus, music is the common denominator.

Whoever Migos joins forces with, whether it’s Drake or Pusha-T, the group creates transformative music. Perhaps the difference between Migos and Wu Tang Clan are that Migos is mainstream and Wu Tang Clan is niche.

Drake Is the $100 Million Man

Drake Is the $100 Million Man

It’s Prime Day and I’m thinking about buying a few Scorpion albums with my money. The only problem is Amazon’s got a big glitch. I thought I write about Drake until Amazon gets fixed. Right now, I’m listening to his music as I write.

I first listened to Scorpionon Spotify when it was initially released on June 29. If you don’t know what Spotify is, it is the Netflix of music. As I listened to Drake on Spotify, I was impressed from the very beginning.

Since June 29, I’ve played Drake’s music every day. I can recall listening to it on Independence Day. The experience was like watching a Will Smith movie. It was a pleasure to hear his rhymes and beats.

Drake is no stranger to taking over. Do you remember when Hotline Bling was the music video of the year? “And I know when that hotline bling, that can only mean one thing.”

Drake is taking over Summer 2018. We will look back on this moment and recognize the summer as a historic period in music. You watch as people come up with stories in the future.

Drake is the $100 million man for 100 million reasons. His music gets inside of your head. You are bound to memorize his lyrics. It’s only a matter of time before you know In My Feelings by heart.

“Kiki, do you love me?”

I can’t wait for him to collaborate with The Weeknd, who made $92 million last year according to Forbes.

I believe Drake’s Scorpionalbum will eclipse the popularity of Thriller. Everyone acknowledges Thriller as Michael Jackson’s magnus opus. Well, Scorpionis Drake’s magnus opus.

The hit album is a popular culture phenomenon. First, we saw God’s Plan turn into a colossal hit. Then, Nice for What became a theme song for independent women. Let’s not forget his music videos are cream of the crop. I’m talking top notch quality.

Now, In My Feelingsmight turn into the song of the year. People are literally going wild because of In My Feelings. Have you heard of the In My Feelings challenge? It’s amazing how much Drake is impacting the world with his songs.

Scorpion was released 3 weeks ago and has already broken all time streaming records. It is no coincidence Drake features Michael Jackson on his album.

Drake is a modern-day Picasso. His songs are works of arts. Like Beyonce and Jay Z, Drake has made a masterpiece. Unlike Bey and Jay, you could say he did it all by himself because his name alone is on the album cover.

Listening to Drake’s music gives you good vibes. For the most part, his music stays positive. However, he had to address his Pusha T beef. I don’t understand these rap beefs sometimes.

Applaud Drake because he is willing to tell his side of the story. I hope Amazon gets fixed, so I can buy the Drake albums. In the meantime, I’m going to keep listening to his music.

Kelly Clarkson Vs. Carrie Underwood

Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are making a comeback around the same time. Clarkson started a tradition where she sings Tinder profiles on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Carrie Underwood is still a perfect 10 after her infamous face accident. The former American Idols are the TV show’s most famous singers for a major reason.

Without question, the names Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood will go down in music history. Clarkson and Underwood are a part of the fabric of American popular culture. Plus, who can stop listening to their music?

Carrie and Kelly can sing with the best, but who’s better? Is Carrie a better singer because she dominates her Country genre? Or is Kelly Clarkson a better entertainer because she concentrates on Pop, a more competitive field in a crowded arena?

It’s easy to say one is better than the other, but it’s harder to prove. I feel in my gut that Kelly Clarkson is the one I want to sing when it counts. However, Carrie Underwood cuts sharper records in the studio booth.

Kelly Clarkson, 36, was born and raised in Texas. That can only mean one thing. She has one of the biggest hearts. With heart, comes soul.

Carrie Underwood, 35, was born in Oklahoma. She grew up listening to country legends like Dolly Parton. Nowadays, she’s influenced country music artists in her own right. In my eyes, she’s a brighter star than Miranda Lambert, who helps define modern day country music.

Overall, Carrie has had a more financially successful career than Kelly. However, the major difference is the Texas songstress has yet to reach the peak. Kelly Clarkson is one hit shy away from greatness.

Clarkson conquers the microphone, but Underwood’s voice is too great to ignore. Maybe, Carrie Underwood’s vocal chords are superior to Kelly Clarkson’s chops. But deep down where it matters, the diaphragm, Kelly has the voice. That’s why she is a coach on the Voice.

It’s up to the fans to decide. Who is better between Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood? I think I’ve answered the question. Your mind is made up on Carrie, but your gut yelps Kelly.
