Ghostbusters Movie Review

BY: GURU JAY

The long-awaited all female Ghostbusters came to theaters yesterday. Everybody was expecting this to be the number 1 summer movie. Did Ghostbusters meet this expectation? Or were we disappointed?

Fans of the original may be disappointed that it didn’t pick off where the last one left off. However, you must appreciate it as a standalone film. How can you deny the incredible acting and comedic timing? Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones put the cat in the bag and on a show (Garfield, maybe?).

The movie provided fun entertainment. There are many unforgettable scenes. I won’t spoil it for you.
It was awkward at times because it seemed like a Saturday Night Live reunion. I’ll give the casting department a break because the movie was funny. But I wanted more variety, fresher faces, and unpredictability. Still, everyone contributed to the awkwardness including Chris Hemsworth.

Melissa McCarthy was laid back and Leslie Jones was in your face. What you get is a nice chemistry experiment. Additionally, I thought Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig played their characters really well. McKinnon was believable as a university professor obsessed with gaining tenure. And Wiig was unbelievable as whatever she was supposed to be.

I thought the cinematography was top notch. In this kind of movie, the light is critical. Moreover, you couldn’t ask for better special effects. The concert hall scene and the ending were breathtaking. Now, you could ask for a better soundtrack. Music is important in every movie.

I give the movie a B. You see delivering good comedy is a hard task. I feel the filmmakers could have done more with their resources.

Ghostbusters met my expectations. I expected big butts in seats and strong box office numbers. But I never expected it to be the number 1 summer movie. Overall, I was satisfied with the outcome.

Why Melissa McCarthy Ain’t Afraid of No Ghost

If you want to deliver a timely joke, don’t bother with UPS, Fed EX, and certainly the post office. Melissa McCarthy delivers the complete package ahead of schedule. The Ghostbusters lead actress answers the epic question: who you gonna call?
As Mike’s better half, she made you laugh on TV. Do you catch Mike and Molly reruns? Plus, she stole Jason Bateman’s credit in Identity Thief. Are you getting my drift?
Prepare to lose your monopoly game against Melissa McCarthy. She gives McCarthyism a new meaning. You see I like her professionalism. The comedic actor doesn’t waste time or talent. What is more, the comedian paved the way for future entertainers.
Doesn’t she have a strong influence on Amy Schumer? People enjoy seeing Molly shine because Mel’s down-to-earth. Although some let fame go to their noggins, not this gal. After watching numerous interviews, you’ll discover she’s a sweetie.

Imagine her starring opposite Tracy Morgan. Talk about a movie selling itself.
Now, I’m not saying the Spy star doesn’t have a wild side. There is a reason Hollywood movers and shakers knock on her dressing room door. Did you know she is a fashion queen?
The best celebrities build brands as well as careers. Moreover, Melissa McCarthy works with the best. That’s why she is a great comedian.
Never underestimate the former gymnast’s flexibility. When you have a chance, check out the comic’s Saturday Night Live scenes for proof. The celeb’s Improv skills are top notch.
Let’s petition a Melissa McCarthy late show. Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon should have perfect competition.
Genuine laughter is harder to produce than crude oil. Right now, Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy’s tickets cost more than a barrel of oil. This is a sign of the times.
In summary, Melissa McCarthy brings it on home. She isn’t scared to speak her mind. And, fans appreciate her honesty.
