Why Vin Diesel Is The Ultimate Actor

After seeing the trailer for XXX: Return of Xander Cage I’m excited for the new year of movies. Vin Diesel has definitely took his precious time creating art and preparing for this role. I fully expect him to deliver a jaw dropping performance as Xander Cage. Aren’t you going to appreciate every minute?

Vin Diesel does an excellent job reprising roles. For instance, the Fast and Furious franchise is built around Vin Diesel’s Dom character. You see the actor has an impressive filmography beyond the action genre. Now, I’m not saying he’s Morgan Freeman but he is the quintessential actor.

His performance in Babylon A D was one for the ages (no pun intended). Have you seen the Last Witch Hunter? The movie is unlike anything else Vin Diesel has done. And who can forget about Furious 7? When it was all said and done, Furious 7 grossed over $1.5 billion at the box office.

His signature style and iconic look play a distinct part in his appeal. On the one hand, there’s something calm and soothing about the Hollywood star. On the other hand, there’s something exhilarating and breathtaking about him. Plus, Vin Diesel executes assignments and takes on an amazing approach.

Did you know he is the most liked actor on Facebook? That’s right. Vin Diesel has amassed over 100 million fans.

Clearly, he has a genuine personality off camera or the fans wouldn’t love him so much. Vin Diesel is a likable guy. Can you picture playing on his basketball or volleyball team? The 6’0” celebrity appears to have a perfect body for sports. Let’s go golfing with the celebrity.

Who wants to play a game of Texas Hold ‘Em with Vin Diesel? You won’t be able to read his face, no matter how hard you try. Chances are high that you’ll lose every hand. Vin Diesel has proven he is the ultimate actor.

Ghostbusters Movie Review

The long-awaited all female Ghostbusters came to theaters yesterday. Everybody was expecting this to be the number 1 summer movie. Did Ghostbusters meet this expectation? Or were we disappointed?


Fans of the original may be disappointed that it didn’t pick off where the last one left off. However, you must appreciate it as a standalone film. How can you deny the incredible acting and comedic timing? Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones put the cat in the bag and on a show (Garfield, maybe?).
 
The movie provided fun entertainment. There are many unforgettable scenes. I won’t spoil it for you.
It was awkward at times because it seemed like a Saturday Night Live reunion. I’ll give the casting department a break because the movie was funny. But I wanted more variety, fresher faces, and unpredictability. Still, everyone contributed to the awkwardness including Chris Hemsworth.


Melissa McCarthy was laid back and Leslie Jones was in your face. What you get is a nice chemistry experiment. Additionally, I thought Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig played their characters really well. McKinnon was believable as a university professor obsessed with gaining tenure. And Wiig was unbelievable as whatever she was supposed to be.

I thought the cinematography was top notch. In this kind of movie, the light is critical. Moreover, you couldn’t ask for better special effects. The concert hall scene and the ending were breathtaking. Now, you could ask for a better soundtrack. Music is important in every movie.


I give the movie a B. You see delivering good comedy is a hard task. I feel the filmmakers could have done more with their resources.


Ghostbusters met my expectations. I expected big butts in seats and strong box office numbers. But I never expected it to be the number 1 summer movie. Overall, I was satisfied with the outcome.

Cinematographers dream about filming Michelle Rodriguez. Her mindboggling beauty is elevated on the silver screen. Everybody from the makeup room to the boardroom enjoys working with Rodriguez.
You will hardly find a better supporting actress. When in doubt, directors call Michelle into audition. The Lost actress is the puzzle’s missing piece. 
Of course she has a hot body and hot body of work like Sofia Vergara. However, those eyes capture your full attention. Michelle Rodriguez’s eyes tell a story of their own. Who remembers her gorgeous gaze toward Vin Diesel in Furious 7?
I watched countless hours of Michelle’s movies this month. I can’t get enough of her. I saw at least 3 Lost episodes (the ones where she takes over). Plus I saw the Latina’s Battle: Los Angeles and SWAT. You can always count on Michelle Rodriguez to bring out her best.

You see showbiz has all shapes, sizes, and colors. That’s the beauty of it all. With so many choices, there’s no reason a movie should be boring. Entertainment business professionals must not make excuses for poor films. Also, give the supporting actresses more credit for their works.
According to Box Office Mojo, Michelle’s movies have grossed $2.1 billion domestically. What is more, Rodriguez is a worldwide box office attraction. Entertainment Weekly named her “the $5 billion Woman” in 2013. 2 years before Furious 7 became the fastest film to a billion dollars.
Outstanding supporting actress Michelle Rodriguez is a jewel too. You see she’s not a diamond in the rough. Michelle Rodriguez is a rough diamond.
A diamond in the rough is an unexpected treasure. A rough diamond is expected glory. Michelle Rodriguez meets great expectations.

What are your favorite Robert Downey Jr. movies? Do you like Sherlock Holmes, Iron Man, and The Avengers? Without question, Robert Downey Jr.’s filmography is legendary. It’s easy to see why The Soloist movie star is number 1 on the Forbes highest paid actors list.
How many times has he scored big at the box office? The numbers show that his movies have collected more than $7.2 billion in revenue. Clearly, he is a bankable movie star plus a prominent actor. Like Drew Barrymore, Downey inherited his calling. The Hollywood heir reminds us of a Tudor because of his noteworthy performance in Richard III and his regal appearance in real life.
Crown him King of Hollywood or make him Lord of Tinseltown. Downey deserves his accolades because of his dedication to his craft. It’s rare to see stars with longevity in the movie industry. Most actors must return to theatre or their other option is TV.
Isn’t it amazing watching a master create a work of art? Can you imagine Downey, Jr. directing movies like his father? If Keanu Reeves is unstoppable, then Robert Downey Jr. is unbelievable.
Chaucer wrote, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” That’s why everyone respects this incredible thespian’s versatility. For example, he played the leading role in Due Date and The Judge. With a net worth in excess of $180 million, the celebrity can afford to take risks.

Is Samuel L. Jackson overrated? Is Laurence Fishburne underrated? In this article, I will underline their similarities and differences.
First, I don’t believe Jackson is overrated. You can’t deny that he is dependable. There’s a reason the actor ranks #1 at the box office all time grossing over $11 billion.
Samuel L. Jackson aka Nick Fury is The Negotiator too. Did you know the actor is an avid golfer? Give Jackson credit for his people skills. Plus, actors enjoy working with him.
Do you ever wonder what’s in Samuel L. Jackson’s wallet? According to the Richest, the celebrity’s net worth is $170 million. What is more, the hard worker earns every penny.
Now, Laurence Fishburne is underrated. We’re talking about Morpheus from The Matrix, here. He is a premium quality actor, who deserves an Oscar.

I feel Fishburne lost valuable roles to Denzel Washington through the years. While Tinsel Town is a town big enough for both of them, these CEOs love cutting corners. Hopefully, Hollywood reverses course before it’s too late.
Film students should study Fishburne. When it comes to drama, few actors can compare to his greatness. Although Samuel may have a farther driving range, Laurence’s acting range is one of the best in showbiz. Do you want proof? Check out What’s Love Got to Do with It, Akeelah and the Bee and Contagion.
Can you believe both actors launched their careers in 1972? The main difference is Laurence Fishburne received immediate acclaim. Thus, the actor played in more movies from the onset. In contrast, Samuel L. Jackson received more roles later on in his career.
I greatly admire Samuel L. Jackson and Laurence Fishburne because they continue teaching upcoming talents. Applaud Jackson for all of his amazing accomplishments. And give Fishburne recognition for Blackish.
These Old School actors offer an avenue for the New School. There’s nothing new under the sun, right? That’s why Hollywood remakes movies every decade. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to remake one-of-a-kind actors like Samuel L. Jackson and Laurence Fishburne.

The Martian Movie Review

The Martian Movie Review

If you’re a regular at Guru Jay, you know The Martian is my kind of movie. I expect this film to be number 1 at the box office for the third consecutive week. Numbers indicate that The Martian might become director Ridley Scott’s best movie ever.
Tonight, my initial thought was: what are comedians Kristen Wiig and Donald Glover doing in this particular piece? After viewing the film, now I realize that they are three-dimensional actors. Who can complain about this wonderful cast? Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Mara, Michael Peña…
The Plot
Matt Damon plays an astronaut (Mark Watney) stranded on Mars because his crew abruptly aborts their mission due to a severe storm. His crewmembers leave him behind thinking he’s dead. However, the determined character lives through this tribulation and awaits rescue.
Luckily, Watney’s a botanist who figures out how to grow food for survival purposes. “The Martian” finally contacts NASA, who already gave him a memorial. Soon, the public learns he is alive. Then, the whole world prepares for his return home safely.

Typically, it would take 4 years to travel to Mars. However, Watney may come home earlier than imagined because of a fortunate discovery. Without a doubt the proposition is risky. What option will NASA take?
Jessica Chastain plays mission commander Melissa Lewis. To her credit, she never wanted to abandon Watney. Nonetheless, she is pivotal to the storyline. I won’t spoil it any further for you. If you’re into science, go check it out.

Closing Thoughts

The cinematography is on point. The Martian is realistic and futuristic as possible. The audience will enjoy spectacular visual effects aligned with technology’s capabilities. We must acknowledge Andy Weir’s great literary contribution.
My main criticism is the movie progresses slowly. Whenever we watch Matt Damon we’re used to seeing fast action-packed scenes. In spite of this, I believe The Martian is brilliant. This is Matt Damon’s magnum opus. You won’t find a carbon copy.

It’s no secret celebrities make easy money. If you have a large and engaged following, doors open for you immediately. That’s why Melissa sustains a lively and supportive fan base on social media.

If there is anyone who can give Melissa Joan Hart a run for her money, it is Jennifer Love Hewitt. The actress is a joy to watch because she’s such a pleasant spectacle. Can you picture Ghost Whisperer without Jennifer Love Hewitt? She is the reason we love TV. Also, don’t forget her contributions to film.
Do you remember I Know What You Did Last Summer and the Tuxedo? Those movies show what Jennifer Love Hewitt brings to the table. What is more, she’s approaching 40 years of age and still looks like a beauty queen.

Presently, Jennifer is the precious face of Proactiv. She is convincing as an ambassador because Jenny is stunning. In addition, Jennifer Love Hewitt is a brand in itself. Who’s a better representative of capitalism? 

Unfortunately, Hollywood undercuts Love Hewitt because she’s an agreeable personality. While it might be all fine and dandy to go with the flow, sometimes it is better to go against the grind. I strongly feel Jennifer’s career stalled because executives mistook Jennifer’s kindness for weakness.
