Billboard Music Awards and a Music Discussion

    Did you watch the Billboard Music Awards? This year’s host, Kelly Clarkson, knocked it out of the park. She had a sense of humor, great timing, and rhythm. Everything was incredible. The show began on a high note and never fell flat. Also, the show had all the goodies imaginable. Hopefully, you received a chance to watch it. Read on for more discussion.

    Music makes the world move. Imagine things without it. Songs allow you to celebrate, relax, and reflect. Prioritize listening to great music. Check out the definition of great music for more knowledge.
    Society needs more good vibrations from music artists and everybody else. The Billboard Music Awards provided a space for this. Even in a pandemic, the world’s best singers gathered to put on some spectacular performances. Artist after artist came on the stage and did not disappoint you. Did you feel all the good vibrations? Wasn’t it a memorable night?
    Memories are at the heart of music. Listen to Marvin Gaye’s Memories, and it might change your life. Whoever said: “I don’t take photographs; I make memories.” had it right. That is how you should go about your day. Take time and appreciate the simple things because you never know when life will get complicated. Make memories.

    Billie Eilish owned the night by winning multiple awards. Top Female Artist was arguably the most prestigious award she won, beating out Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Halsey. Anyway, she values all of her accolades. Billie Eilish is the new Miley Cyrus. If you didn’t know who she was, now you know.
    Tell me you saw how Alicia Keys rocked the house. It was a joy seeing Alicia perform new music. She wore a sparkling outfit to top it off. Her performance reminds you that she’s not stopping anytime soon because no one can do what she does quite as well. It’s easy to see Alicia’s fire.

    The best music is not only universal but also undeniable. Kane Brown and Garth Brooks, along with Brandy, weren’t denied their respect. Music artists from all genres promised excellence in 2020 and beyond. You’re bound to see new music and collaborations from singers and rappers. What were your favorite moments?     Award shows serve as a friendly reminder that you should stop what you’re doing right now and celebrate, relax, and reflect. Notice I didn’t say sing. Not everyone has vocal blessings like Alicia Keys, but you can watch and listen to a music video or read a blog that is celebratory, relaxing, and reflective. You may not have the ability to produce a hit in a studio and via music software. But as long as you’re alive, you can enjoy the process. With music, you can unwind or ramp up. In other words, you can have it both ways.

Can Jason Derulo compete with Chris Brown?

Why isn’t Jason Derulo a bigger name? Thankfully, New Year’s Rockin’ Eve has recognized his greatness. Jason Derulo and Panic! at the Disco are scheduled to perform on the annual special according to Billboard.

Now, maybe Jason Derulo isn’t a bigger name because he hasn’t dated Rihanna. Or you could say he isn’t as talented as Chris Brown; but I don’t think that’s the case. I believe Jason is a bonafide entertainer, who doesn’t rely on luck.

Although Derulo doesn’t have as many collaborations with superstars like Chris Brown, he’s still a superstar. The entertainment industry requires patience. What is more, greatness takes time to develop. In due time, Jason’s name will light up in big words on Usher’s level. You see his style and career compares favorably with Usher.

Jason Derulo already has a big name at 27 years old. And it’s only going to get bigger in 2017. Landing a major contract deal with New Year’s Rockin’ Eve means the world, believe me.

I learned about Jason Derulo because I’m a huge Jordin Sparks fan. Now although their relationship didn’t work out, I won’t penalize Jason for it. You see, the entertainment business will break your heart if you let it. Celebrities date celebrities because coworkers date coworkers. And they breakup for the same reasons.

Everything is a learning process. And Jason Derulo has learned the definitions of patience and greatness. Every time, he takes the stage you’ll notice the purpose in his eyes. Nothing about this guy is mediocre.

Moreover, the Want to Want Me singer is on every woman’s Christmas list. You should see this singer rehearse. He sings with passion and that’s the bottom line. Somebody told me if you do what you love to do, you will never work a day in your life. Jason Derulo is living the good life.

He can compete with Chris Brown or anybody for that matter.

Bruno Mars Vs. The Weeknd

CBS aired the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last night at 10 PM. All eyes were watching the models strut the stage. And all ears were listening to the lullabies of Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and The Weeknd.

Overall, I enjoyed seeing the sights from Paris on my HD TV screen. I can only imagine how nice it would be to see the show in 3D or going to the show live in person. Many celebrities were in attendance. It was great entertainment. Bruno Mars and The Weeknd showed up big time.


The question I want to know is Bruno Mars still better than The Weeknd. I believe The Weeknd may have usurp Bruno Mars in popularity. For the record, I consider Bruno to be the best singer in the entertainment business. Who can deny his vocal ability?

Bruno is even a better entertainer than the Weeknd. However, the Weeknd wins right now because of his undeniable style. Plus, his lyrics from his latest album are better than Bruno’s 24 K magic. Side to side, I would rather listen to the Weeknd’s Starboy album simply for the well-written verses. Still, they have both created hot beats with their new sounds.

The Weeknd currently holds 2 Guinness World Records. He has the most streamed album on Spotify in 1 year. Plus, he holds the record for most consecutive weeks in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100 by a Solo Male Artist.

Do you doubt that the famous Canadian and Hawaiian will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame one day? Who will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame first? The Bruno Mars/ The Weeknd rivalry is real. They probably dream about each other.

Who’s better between Beyoncé and Alicia Keys? Is Alicia Keys the best singer and Beyoncé the best entertainer? I feel Alicia’s singing is superior although Queen Bee has got a big Ego. Jokes aside, Beyoncé gives everything to you.
If I had to pick, I’d chose Beyoncé 10 times out of 10. She delivers the total package in the form of singing plus dancing. She mesmerizes you on the dance floor.
Alicia doesn’t dance enough. Gratefully, she plays the keyboard though. Can you picture Alicia as your waitress? “Give me the special with the hot chocolate” all night. You Don’t Know My Name
Look, Beyoncé is on another planet right now. She’s in the news nonstop because of Lemonade. But Alicia Keys just released In Common yesterday. Without question, it is a hot single. What is more, you can pull it up on YouTube/ Vevo and listen to the New York girl.

Maybe Keys should have waited to put out her song. Rihanna postponed her plans for Adele’s album. Is Alicia Keys stepping on Beyoncé’s toes or using her as a steppingstone? By all accounts they seem like BFFs. But we’re talking about the music industry here, aren’t we?
The entertainment value of Beyoncé and Alicia Keys is extraordinary. I know it is unfair to compare Beyoncé and Alicia Keys… but life is unfair, isn’t it?
The Beyoncé takeover is in full effect. She’s my #1 favorite pop star and this won’t change any time soon. Alicia Keys makes my top 10 too. For the record, I own both their albums.
Still, Beyoncé isn’t flawless; “She’s a bitch in the morning. We don’t know why we love her.” Yes, Alicia Keys sings the best, but Beyoncé is the best singer.
It’s not always about hitting the high notes. Sometimes it’s more important to hit that low note.

Growing up The Wonder Years was my favorite TV show. Boy, it had one hell of a theme song, didn’t it? Joe Cocker’s version of With a Little Help From My Friendshelped fuel my addiction to the show. What’s more, that’s how I learned about Joe Cocker.
I had to know who possessed that powerful voice in the beginning. The more I familiarized myself with the legend, the more I started feeling legendary. Joe Cocker= Legend.
He sings You Are So Beautiful, Come Together, and Up Where We Belong in heaven. He didn’t make pop songs; his music was spiritual. What would Woodstock be without Cocker? Joe was a rare find because he was a classic singer.
Most entertainers are made in a bakery. They’re cookie cutter. What you see is what you get. Joe Cocker sang from the bottom of his belly.

Like the Beatles, Joe Cocker created seismic waves. Throughout Joe Cocker’s career, he received well-deserved recognition. In 2008, Rolling Stone named him 1 of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. Billboard gave him 2 other accolades-  #84 Artist 100 and #14 Social 50 in 2015.
I’m New School by date of birth, but I’m actually Old School by tradition. Bob Seger couldn’t have said it any better than this: “Today’s music ain’t got the same soul, I like that old time rock ‘n’ roll.” Moreover, Joe Cocker rocked to the limit. He lived his life up and that’s what counts. Don’t die bitter by living inhibited; die happy by living uninhibited.

Don’t know why we want Norah Jones? I’ll tell you. We want her for a host of reasons. We want Norah Jones for bragging rights.
Who sings sweeter than the sweetest? Can you keep up with Jones’ sound? The musician can sing in multiple genres. Jazz and Country are her specialties.
Nothing beats her delicate touch. You’ll fall in love with Norah’s pitch. Also, she approaches music with gratitude and respect. It is a privilege to watch this songstress in action.
Listening to Norah Jones defuses stressful days. Moreover, she adds pleasure to many enjoyable moments. Amazing is the best adjective to describe this woman’s work. Shout out to Kate Bush and Maxwell.
Did you know Billboard named Norah Jones Jazz Musician of the decade? This means she bested Kenny G. Could it be that Jones’ voice is a saxophone? 
Imagine listening to Chasing Pirates when sailing on a ship. Get lost in the lyrics of Come Away With Me. Throughout her career she’s made the most out of her talent. She never neglected her gifts. Plus, she paid her dues.
Maybe, Miranda Lambert and Jones can get together.
If Miles Davis was the common denominator, then Norah is the common numerator. Simply put, she’s got our number. The celebrity compares favorably to yoga instructors when it comes to flexibility. Others could learn from this special music artist.
Her concerts frequently sell out because the Texas Longhorn is a rare breed. She mixes ingredients better than Samantha stirs stew on Bewitched. Yet, Norah Jones seems pure.
She insists on opening doors rather than closing them. The celebrity can change on command. We value adaptability in entertainers. Who else can cut a song with Carrie Underwood and Herbie Hancock?
In a nutshell, she gives us everything. That’s why we want Norah Jones.

Bee Gees and the Beach Boys songs are timeless pieces. Take for instance these following lyrics:

Between the Beach Boys and Bee Gees you can’t go wrong. I listen to the bands to calm my nerves. Put on Surfin USA and that will do the trick. After listening to the record all you can think about is beach balls and Pina Coladas.

It’s a fun way to relax. Try playing Stayin Alive when you’re feeling in a bad mood. It works. I feel like the world needs good music.
Nowadays, they don’t make hits like they did in the past. That’s why we gotta do a Throwback Thursday (TBT) on Wednesday. No one sings like Barry Gibb.
Listen to Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb’s Guilty. “Little by little we meet in the middle. There’s a danger in the dark. You gotta be mine.” There’s no doubt that is a top 10 duet of all time.
Plus the Beach Boys are a top 5 band. Their music is still heard all over the globe. Yes, Elvis was a legend but he was a 1 man show. Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston, Al Jardine, and David Marks made their mark on American music history.
Finally, the Beatles weren’t the only great band from the United Kingdom. How about the band of brothers? 3 brothers named Barry, Robin, and Maurice forever changed the sound of music, especially in England.
You combine the 2 bands and you get U.S. and U.K. Ambassadors. Bee Gees + The Beach Boys= Too Much Heaven and Good Vibrations.
