Top 10 Christmas Movies

Seth Meyers joked that Hanukkah lasts for 2 weeks and Christmas lasts for 2 months. ‘I don’t care what the calendar says, I wish it was Christmas today.’ See this neat Saturday Night Live clip.

A Christmas Carol is my favorite on the list. I identify with Ebenezer Scrooge. The story never grows old. Are you afraid of the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future?
Have you seen The Polar Express, Elf and Four Christmases? Which is the best Santa Clause…1,2, or 3? Does How the Grinch Stole Christmas surprise you at number 1?
Without further ado, let’s look at the top 10.
Top 10
10. Christmas with the Kranks $ 74 Million
9. The Nightmare Before Christmas $ 75 M

The 90s Movies and TV

BY: GURU JAY

Movies

The first movie I remember watching is Who Framed Roger Rabbit. That was in the late eighties.
I was a toddler when the studios released the classic funny bunny movie. The film came on TV all of the time. So, as a child I learned Roger Rabbit’s lines verbatim.
If you were alive in the 1980’s, I don’t have to tell you those were tough times. There was a stock market crash in 1987. I had a college teacher who lost $50,000 during the free fall. Fortunately, I was born in the 1980s and raised in the 1990s.
Enter the 90s. The 90s were a prosperous time in American History. The 1990s were a lot like the 1920s.
The 90s were animated. Animation equals domination. I can’t forget about the Lion King or Toy Story. Disney films made a major impact in movie history.
Here are a few good movies from the 90s: Titanic, Who’s Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, and Forrest Gump. In the words of the family guy Archie Man, “those were the days.”

TV
Don’t get me started on 90’s TV shows. This was the best time to be a kid. We had enough cartoons to sink a battleship.
I used to watch Saved By the Bell and Power Rangersbefore going to school. I’d come home and watch Full House. Who remembers when Boy Meets World aired on T.G.I.F.? Who knows the Step By Step theme song word for word?
Expect more remakes and reruns from the 1990s.

The Urban Legend of Taylor Swift

BY: GURU JAY

Why has Taylor Swift abandoned country for pop music? Taylor is a great singer who used to sing ballads to Tim McGraw and Toby Keith. What happened?
4 years ago Beyoncé and Jay Z couldn’t care less about Taylor Swift.  Now, they’re hanging out together. What’s happening?
If Swift stayed country, she’d be richer. Remember there are riches in niches. Country is profitable because there isn’t a lot of competition. Still, country can only take Taylor so far because it only sells in America.
I predict Taylor Swift will go back to country when she’s older. Pop music targets teenagers not senior citizens. So, Taylor is rapidly expanding her fan base.
Yes, she’s losing a few fans but she’s gaining more. I wonder how she reached 72 million Facebook likes and 49 million Twitter followers. What is the price of fame?
Are you a Swiftie? I don’t want to pretend like I’m a fan. I admire Taylor. I don’t hold anything against the superstar. But, she belongs to country.
Urban Legend
I finally figured out the Taylor Swift riddle. It is not about money. She wants to be an Urban Legend.
You see country music fans reside in rural areas. Mainstream music fans live in urban areas. If Taylor wants fans in Japan, she’ll have to fly to Tokyo.
The best fans are in Metropolis places such as Los Angeles, New York, and London.  It makes sense that she’s a New York ambassador. While other celebrities play charades with fans, Taylor Swift is playing chess.

Are You a Browncoat? How About That Firefly TV Show

BY: GURU JAY

Do you like Firefly? Are you a Browncoat? If you enjoy science fiction you’ll like this TV show. Although it survived only 1 season, there are a number of great episodes.
Firefly gives you value. It’s a low budget Star Dust with high aspirations. In other words, it’s a wannabe Star Trek/ Star Wars.
The TV show allows the audience to escape. For an hour, you forget about your bills due next week. For an hour, your worries go away.
In itself Firefly is unrealistic. But, if you have a vivid imagination, then this is your show! Firefly uniquely blends space and time travel.
If you can’t sleep, watch Firefly on demand.
It’s fun. Gina Torres reminds me a lot of Rudolph the red nose reindeer because she’s a brownnoser. And she makes the season bright.
The Serenity movie falls short of writing, direction, and production. There are YouTube videos better than this film. I’m a Firefly fan who dislikes Serenity. Am I the only 1?
When it’s late at night, I sometimes watch the Tonight Show. I used to stay up longer in watch Conan O’Brien when he was on NBC. Then, after that I watch Science Fiction and Fantasy.
TV always gets better with time because you can go back into the archive. Let’s dig up a little dirt. Stephenie Meyer needs to give credit to the Twilight Zone and True Blood.
Firefly has a highly engaged fan base. Check out the community. You’ll learn facts about characters, storylines, and more.

Is Margot Robbie the Next Nicole Kidman?

BY: GURU JAY
Is Margot Robbie the next Nicole Kidman? The young and talented actress has a good resume. She’s literally a box office attraction. Australia produces some fine actresses.
Aussie actresses should gather at Nicole Kidman’s home so that Kidman can share her secrets. Wouldn’t it be great if actresses actually collaborated? There’s so much competition out there. That’s why Margot Robbie and Emily Browning can’t reveal their true feelings toward each other.
Nicole Kidman’s been ‘there and done that’  for all Aussie actresses. She did most of the grunt work so that this generation of stars could relax. So, Margot Robbie doesn’t have to serve as an Australian ambassador if she doesn’t want to…Kidman has it all under control.
What’s your favorite Nicole Kidman movie? I think she’s wonderful in the Stepford Wives. I want to remake Stepford Wives with Margot.
I don’t know if Robbie will build a stronger brand than Kidman. Kidman has over 30 years of experience in show business. It would be nice to see Nicole play Margot’s mother.
We got  to see the hot starlet play Leo DiCaprio’s wife in the Wolf of Street.
She stars as lead actress alongside Will Smith in Focus. She plays love interest Jane in Tarzan. Have you noticed how many mega budget movies she does?
They offer Margot big roles because she deserves it. Before film she was on television. She’s been a professional actress since 17.
I also would like to revive the Australia movie. This time Margot Robbie will play the lead alongside Chris Hemsworth. But there’s a catch. I want Quentin Tarantino to direct.

Kristen Stewart Vs. Jennifer Lawrence BATTLE of the SEXIEST

BY: GURU JAY

Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we have a battle of the sexiest. Let’s get ready to rumble!!! It’s showtime…

In the red corner, she’s the Twilight Saga blood sucker…standing at 5 feet 5 inches short…weighing in at 120 pounds…24 years young…from Los Angeles, California girl/ Disneyland’s Kristen Stewart!

In the blue corner, best known for the Hunger Games with People’s sexiest man Liam Hemsworth…standing 5 feet 9 inches tall…weighing 139 pounds…24 year-old Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence!

BATTLE of the SEXIEST

Who’s the best looking? Who’s sexier? Who’s the most talented?

Pound for pound, I give KStew the nod for attractiveness and sexiness. Her beautiful blue eyes and long flowing hair makes me believe in fairytales. If Stewart wants it bad enough, she could be our generation’s Audrey Hepburn.

But, JLaw is the best actress. Kristen could learn how to act from Jennifer Lawrence. Studios want to get their hands on JLaw like the new Iphone. She’s a director’s dream.

Have you seen Silver Linings Playbook? You won’t find a better looking 21 year old on the silver screen than Jennifer. JLaw rocks a brunette hair color and turns more heads than DJango Unchained

Someday KStew and JLaw will make a movie together. I’d bet both would compromise their salaries for art’s sake. Artistically, I see Kristen as surpassing pretty woman Julia Roberts.

The media constantly covers JLaw and neglects KStew. They’re doing fans a disservice. Wouldn’t you like to hear more about Kristen Stewart?

Nowadays if you want good news, you have to know where to look. Aren’t you tired of seeing the same story? Go to GuruJay.com and I guarantee you won’t get bored. Search the blog archive for more fun.

Why I Won’t Review Exodus Or Watch Marco Polo

BY: GURU JAY

Mel Gibson got it right with Passion of the Christ. Director Gibson realized the power of language and used it to his advantage. He brilliantly selected Aramaic because that’s what Jesus spoke.

In 2001, moviegoers didn’t mind reading subtitles. I don’t mind reading subtitles at all. In fact, sometimes I watch American films with subtitles because I value the price of words.

I would write a review of Exodus but I won’t watch the movie unless I get free tickets. Why? To be frank, Moses did not speak English. Why would I go see an unrealistic portrayal of a great man?

Marco Polo

After seeing the first 10 minutes of NetFlix’s Marco Polo, I turned off my device. How dare they insult the great Genghis Khan and his descendants. Don’t watch Marco Polo unless you’re high. Otherwise, you don’t value your time or money. At this point, I might cancel NetFlix.

English shouldn’t be the default language of all screenplays. Here’s an idea Hollywood. Why don’t you write the first draft in English and pay a translator. You outsource everything else!

Why I refuse to review Exodus or watch Marco Polo

I won’t review Exodus because Moses spoke Hebrew last time I checked. I can’t even finish the whole trailer. And I refuse to see a full episode of Marco Polo because I never heard of a Mongol speaking English. Mel Gibson is a lot of things. But he’s right about one thing…
